Question What is this and how do I get rid of it?

Ok, this has started to bug me. In every picture that I see of other Z's I do not see this thing in their grills. I am beginning to feel like I am the only one with this thing on my car?? Anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it?

It is where the tow hook screws in. The tow hook is the yellow thing in with the jack. You will need it is the car ever needs to be pulled onto a rollback.

lol - we all have the TOW HOOK! Didn't the dealer show it to you ?

If you need to be towed you have to screw the little tow hook into that hole. READ the ownders manual!

There should be a cover to conceal the tow hook area. The cover is removed (revealing what you see right now) when you need to screw in the tow hook to have the car towed. Everyone's Z has one of these tow hook points in the front bumper area. The reason you don't see it on their cars is because they have the cover on.

Well, ok... but how come I do not see it in most (if not all) of the pictures of other Z's??? There are 3 "ribs" going across the grill and the top one is cut in the middle so you can see that Tow thing plain as day. Most other picutres of Z's do not have that cut in the middle of the top rib like mine. Even on the stock grills. Maybe they paint their's black (or some other color)???

Looks like I will be making a trip to the Nissan dealer because there has never been a cover on mine. Maybe it's in with the jack?? The salesman never made any mention of it, of course he also told me that the stock Navigation system played regular DVD's so he is most likely not the person to go to for answers. Can someone post a picture of what the cover looks like??

The hook is NOT (N-O-T) to be used for towing!!

Read the manual: 6-10 thru 6-12.

Good Eyes Ratz you are all so correct. If you use that hook to pull on to a rollback, with the wench mounted in the bed at the front,
your car as it is pulled up the bed, the wench being lower then the hook will pull your car and suspension down into the bed as it reachs the top of the bed and has been reported to bend suspension parts.

if you just imagine a black rib that just connects the 2 sides, thats it. nothing special. just fills the gap.
