Default HID bulb d2r question

so one of my d2r 8k bulb went out.. and i need to replace it. i searched on ebay and found "replacement" bulbs d2c... mine say d2r on them... are the d2c inferior to the d2r? are they all the same? cheaper? are they universal or do i have to buy ones specific for my car?

thanks guys

I don't know if D2R and D2C are the same or not, but don't buy lame 8000k bulbs please, for the Z community as a whole. We try not to be "those" guys. So for the love of god, buy OEM 4300k bulbs please. We are better than this....

I wonder why it went out?

Possibly because it's a cheap bulb? Going on eBay isn't gonna help you either unless you look for good brands, such as Philips.

Quick Google search...

Xenos D2C HID Bulb was initially created to eliminate the cost of inventory for suppliers of HID bulbs.
As specification for each model and manufacturer varied, the risk of individual stores to forecast the demand was always high and the cost of inventory became a burden. By observing the needs of customers, Megatec Automotive created the D2C bulb, compatible to both D2R and D2S type. This meant that now stores would only need to carry half the number of stocks for HID bulbs than they would normally have. In Japan, this is one of the reason why it became much easier for gas stations to stock the HID bulbs to fulfill the growing needs of the customers, especially truck drivers stopping in for gas.
Industry experts forecasts an increasing demand of both types in years to come, especially in the aftermarket. They also agree that one type will eventually rule out the other, similar to what happened with the VCR battle between the Beta and VHS type.
But why worry, when all you have to order is the Xenos D2C HID Bulb suitable for both D2S and D2R type.

yeah, but my OEM 43k bulbs have lasted for 6 years and counting (build date Sept 2003). goes to show that cheaper is not always better.

D2R is the oem application and FITMENT to our Z. Not only fitment in headlamp, also fitment in the correct projection area of the lamp to iluminate properly. I suggest 5k or 6k for better light and nice looking. Regards, www.sagahid.com
