Carbon Fiber Vinyl Pattern Wrap Thread
Been following this thread for a few weeks-long time 2 read all of it-glad I did though-picked up 3M 77 today at Lowes-gonna call around 2 find the 90 like somebody recommends--not forgetting the original guy who 1st brought it up! Thanks- It gets so hot here in FL in summer that a can of soda burst in my car after being in there for 4 hours! And it was cold when I left it-I'm a little worried about the whole thing though-been 1 or 2 horror stories-1 thing though, I don't get the "stretching" part? Is it like stretching plastic wrap over a plate?
Found this while looking at 3M 90:
3M 80 Adhesive, 24 Oz - 18.00 Oz. - 0 to 200 - 1 Hour
Adhesive, Size 24 Ounces, Temperature Range -40 to 200 Degrees Fahrenheit, Application Time 1 Minute, Item Rubber and Vinyl 80
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3M 90 Adhesive, Spray, 24 Oz - 16.25 Oz. - 0 to 160 - 15 Min. - MMM-A-130B
Spray Adhesive, Size 24 Ounces, Temperature Range -30 to 160 Degrees Fahrenheit, Application Time 15 Minutes, Item High Strength, Super 90, 1 Minute Drying Time
not sure what kind of material the 80 can be used 4, but an extra 40 degrees of protection would be nice-

How did you other guys prep your center console pieces? When I did mine we spent hours removing all of the rubber texture stuff on every single piece because it came off so easily. We tried one piece without removing the rubber and it wouldn't stick.
Also, I'm very curious to see how well the 3m spray adhesive is working out in the long run. I have strong doubts about whether or not it will work for you long term. I used a type of extremely strong contact cement sprayed through a professional style paint sprayer and an air compressor.

Just a word of advice to people who plan on doing this. It's a lot harder than it looks. I failed miserably and the process is not reversible like some people said. I used 3M 90 and its stuck on my console.
also, don't be afraid to stretch the fabric. it's a lot more forgiving that it looks.
This stuff really looks great on your dash, I'm pretty bummed it didn't turn out how I wanted it to.
I think I'll order a new console and maybe try it again sometime. I might send you PM to get some more details about the process.
