Default are those manufacturer defects? or i was fooled?

i got the car in late 2007 (tho it's 2006 model with 6k odo), and a clean title. i got it shipped from US to Bahrain, which took about a month (the whole process took me 4+ months).

after receiving it for a while, i've noticed a gap between the front bumper and the headlight, i thought maybe it was a manufacturer's defect, and never gave it attention.. and last night, i've noticed some worn rubber (dunno what they're called) at each end on the front glass window, also i noticed the passenger side/side skirt isn't fit as well..

so i'm thinking, is it a manufacturer's defect? or did that happen with the previous owner but he never reported it? or is it because of the shipping?

i don't know if those are fixable, but i'm sure a new replacement part should fix it, tho i don't want to spend cash on fixing those issues, but rather spend it on aftermarketparts.

on with the pix:

Headlight fitment issue

and the worn rubber

Side skirt fitment issue

comments/suggestions are welcome.

thnx

The "rubber" seal isnt an issue i dont believe. Ive had two 350'z and both had the same deal. I think after awile outside they just tend to get a little Corroded. As for the bumper. Just get an aftermarket one IMO. & my Z defently didnt come with side skirtz. lol. Little Gimpy mud flaps maybe. But not full side skirts.

My '06 is very similar in all regards. The rubber part on my windshields are not nearly as worn, however I can see that mine are deteriorating.

Yes. I didn't really notice until I was looking at some shots I took today of the headlights, but since I just put the bumper back on I have no one to blame but myself. Lining everything up should be really easy, since I have now taken the bumper cover off several times I have a pretty good handle on what bolts to loosen to align the cover. The fenderwell splash guards pop off pretty easily, one phillips head screw and three pop-up plastic rivets hold that piece on. Then, once removed, one 10mm bolt and three 10mm hex head screws to loosen and adjust. Taking the tire off gives one more room to work.

But on the side skirts, every time I get in my car the darn things look like they were never fit correctly from the factory. Definitely more noticable when the door is open.

I just did the 03-05 HID to 06+ Bi-Xenon swap and I have the exact same gap on the headlights. It seems to be that way with everyones. I'll post pics of mine when I get home.

As for the rubber trim, I have no problems that I know of but I'll post pics of that too.

I tried everything and they just seem to stay that way. I did not see any adjusting screws or anything like that. I cant remember what the 03-05 headlights look like on a car.

Anyone wanna take a few pics of thier 03-05 headlights? I want to see the difference in the gaps.

I got into a minor accident with my first Z and ever since then there was a gap just like yours and it drove it absolutely insane. Hopefully your Z wasn't in an accident.

Please excuse my dusty car. She's been sitting for a few months waiting for winter to be gone. So I have a few pics here. I think you need to get your weather stripping and the side skirts checked out. I still think the lights having a gap are normal.

Here is a shot of the passenger light:

Here is a close-up of the gap in the headlight:

Here is the weather stripping on the drivers side, passenger is the same. It seems you're missing a whole chunk off of it!:

Here's near the door sill. No gap at all....:

There is a little adhesive pad (like 3M double-sided tape) around that area of the OEM side skirt that should keep it from popping out like that. See link below, second set of images down, part no. 76898R. If the previous owner ever took off the side skirt and did not replace this adhesive before reinstalling, then I could see why it might stick out there.

Do you have the 03-05 lights in? Can you take a couple of pics for comparison?

probably is... u think putting 3M adhesive tape would do the job? cuz the part u're referring to costs around 20 bucks.!
