Default New grill from Nissan

I wish I had better pix of this grill 'cause these don't really do it justice. Because of the closeness of the bars, it develops a moire' pattern that I have not been able to remove on these quick shots.
Installation requires the removal of the stock grill and then it bolts in. Yes, I know it covers the tow hook, but I have nearly 39,000 miles and have not needed the tow hook yet! If needed, I can unbolt the grill in under 10 minutes and go that way, I'm a gambler anyway! Here 'tis for your perusal:

Regards, Jim

Hey, Jim, the "tow" hook is not for towing! Check your manual.

Very cool looking grill.

I also have the Courtesyparts.com "Billet Grill". It is an extremely nice grill! Did not have to remove the stock grill. Current "kit" comes with screws and supports for attachment. It is a lot easier to install if you have installed a Injen CAI. Then you will understand when install instruction require removal of plastic cover on left/right front, behind stock grill. You have already accomplished this on right while installing CAI.

just because it's on courtesy's site doesn't mean it's from nissan. there are many things on that site that isn't from nissan.

IMHO, it reminds me of that cheap plastic grill on the new thunderbirds.

Holy $%$&, 39,000 miles.

Had my car almost 4 months and I just broke 1000 miles, LOL

Well one thing is for sure, your paint looks spectacular.
Do you have a clear bra?
Can you give us a 39,000 mile update?

Rants/Raves?

Or did you mean 3900 miles. If it is 39,000 miles, you have the highest mileage of any Z's.

hmmm purchased Oct 02, I am assuming.

11 months divided by 39,000 = OMG; 3545 avg miles a month which = 11 oil changes.

The grille from Courtesy Nissan is made of stainless steel. The manufacturer is E&G Classics and it is made in the USA. E & G Classics makes grilles for a lot of high end cars as well as grille replicas for antique car restorations.

Default Okay, let explain a few things (long)

I purchased the grill from West Valley Nissan here in Arizona. They installed it as well and so that is the reason I said "new grill from Nissan." In reality, it is made by another company, of course, and sold/installed by a Nissan dealership. My bad.

Secondly, the grill on Courtesy site is NOT my grill. I saw/handled the Courtesy grill and it is pretty unsubstantial (I'm being kind here) and looks to be a stamped grill w/flat grill members. It also has a stamping that runs around the outside perimeter of the grill and looks pretty cheap. My grill is made of (floating) bars, not flat stamping and the bars are free standing, not connected to ea. other as the Courtesy grill is. My grill is not pictured/sold on Courtesy's site.

Thirdly, the stock grill DOES have to be completely removed to install this grill. It is bolted in, no wraps or screws whatsoever, I watched them install it.

Fourthly, The grill sells for $239 and I get Z club discount and I paid $159 for it.

Finally, yes, I have 38,978 miles on my girl as of tonight! Reason being, I am retired (early!) and I have the time to go and I do. Besides, at my age (64 tomorrow!) I don't want to look back, somebody may be catching me! (Thanks, Satchel) Next week, I probably will drive over to California and see about getting the ECU done. Following that, I will probably tour up the coast for a few days and then back to Arizona. I travel a lot as a freelance photographer, that is, until the West Nile virus nailed me while on a Z run in Colorado last month and I had to park Marilyn for a week while in the hospital!
So I am on the road a lot of the time that most guys could not possibly be w/local jobs, etc. and the miles pile up on Marilyn. I run at the drags several times a month and even when I am on the road, I find the local strip so I can run and show off Marilyn! I have no regrets about putting these miles on Marilyn. It has been and continues to be a blast!

Complaints? A few, the feathering issue never quite went away, but the replacement Nitto's have almost 24,000 on them and look as tho they will go to 35-38k+ easily. This compared to the OEM B-stones that were shot @ 11k. I rec'd the new amp and a pair of front tires from Nissan w/o too much of a hassle earlier on. The grease streaks? They belong to me! There is no way I will let a tech tear into my doors and window mechanisms. Too many horror stories to go there.

Someone asked if Marilyn had a clear bra. Yes, she does. It was probably the best investment I ever made for Marilyn as you can see by the paint after nearly 40k! I have a friend w/a Redline and you ought to see his paint chip off! We finally decided that the Redline is a two stage paint and Marilyn has three stage paint and that (we think) makes the difference.

Hope this clears up a few things. I will get the name of the grill mfg. when I go for my (monthly!) oil change tomorrow. Regards, Jim

Default Tow hook

Hey, thx for the good word on the grill. I only wish I had waited to put up better pix. Oh, well, soon.
Yes, I do know what the "tow hook" is for I just used that name because everyone is comfortable w/it. I know it is to get our car up on the flatbed, but Marilyn isn't (ever) going there!
Manual? You got a manual? Regards, Jim

Jim,

You're livin' the life! Good for you!

I always look forward to any pictures you post as they are always first-rate.

Your Z looks fantastic! Something about that LeMans Sunset in the Arizona sun...
