z8m,

looks great!! couple questions, why do you have to break off the larger tabs on the trim ring... and second, do you know of any other automatic shift ***** that would work with the z?

thanks.

Ragtopz,
I liked Momo the best. I think it matches the Z very well .Try www.sounddomain.com , they have different ***** to choose from.
The tabs get in a way when I tried to push it down to grip the leather. Believe me I sweated my a$$ trying, so finally I broke it off and it worked. The small rear tab keep it in place if you want to put back in stock.

You guys can always buy a replacement trim ring at www.everythingnissan.com . They have all of the OEM parts available for sale, including interior, exterior, lamps, housings, and mechanical parts (engine blocks, etc.)

Edit: The trim ring is about $28. Little expensive, but worth it if you ever wanted to get back to stock.

I'm a 6MT owner, and I think this mod is pretty cool (so no flames here ). I did this mod once before with my AT Civic.

I did it today...didn't take the pictures though :sorry havabooz:
It was really simple, you just take off the shifter, then take off the plastic ring around the shifter and break off the two bigger plastic tabs (there's tape holding them), finally, you just put the boot in and reapply the plastic (I didn't glue anything like the previous person did...). Then you just put your new shifter on and :voila: it looks like you have manual. It makes me feel a lot better that it at least looks like manual, because the reactions you get when you have an auto z are well...negative... (I just say I have manual now )

I can post pics of what the final product is via my spring phone, but I don't feel like repeating the process to take step by step instructions...
