Question Girlfriend in need of help!

I was wondering, I want to buy my boyfriend something for his car, and I know he wanted his headlights and tail lights tinted, from research it seems relatively cheap? Any suggestions on where I should buy from, and how dark I should go? I've seen two that are 20% and 17% and they are the do it your self kits, I can't seem to find any thing else. What would you want for your car? Opinions needed! Thanks

Are you planning on tinting them yourself?

20% compared to 17% is not that much different.

I believe there is a guy here on the forum that sells headlight/taillight overlays.
Blue Batmoblie?? <~~ Something like that...

Andy aka bluebatmobile for headlight tint.
You're going to have to email him directly since he can be a busy man.

From a guy who also had his girlfriend make an account and come on here to do research, props to you.

I would suggest shopping for something more tangible though. If he messes up the film-tint job it could be a bummer. It's equivalent to him buying you an expensive manicure while picking the color. Nice guesture, but you'd stress over ruining it.

Lucky your bf. My gf hates my Z. lol I guess she is just jealous i'm so into my baby. Anyways, I would personally prefer eyelid for the front instead of tinting the headlights. Everyone has it's own taste tho. Regarding taillights, I'd not paint them although they look cleaner and nice. Cops pull you over in CA; might be different where you leave. Tint taillights remember me drivers who got pulled over at HIN removing their tints on the streets lol

My thoughts are - short antenna, tinted reflectors, gear (i.e. t-shirt).
If he's not tinted all around, that's also a good value option.
Tinting the head and tails can go wrong any number of different ways
unless done by a recommended pro.

If you want to go for tint, I'd suggest staying away from headlight overlays as they can cause stress cracks in the plastic over a period of time.

Bluebatmobile's taillight overlays however should be fine.

ps- pics as payment for this sound advice would be appreciated

Default smoked headlights/taillights

hey.

I have done this a few times and the easiest way to do it is go to a hobby store (were remote control cars and airplanes are sold ect.) and ask them for some tint spray. They will know what you are talking about. Then just remove the headlights/taillights and spray them down a few times. If he ever gets a "ref-ticket" just take some brake cleaner and a towel or SOFT sponge and it comes right off.

Good Luck

Be careful....the waaahmbulance drivers are watching........

To the awesome girlfriend......let us know what year your boyfriends Z is.....as that will make a difference in tint %.

03-05 taillights are bulbs hence you don't want to go too dark as no one will see him put on his brake lights.

I actually have a set of 05 taillights that have been spray tint and are clear coated. I could sell you those.......you could get overlays from Bluebatmobile which are cheaper but don't look as nice as spray tinted lights.

06 taillights are LED which are much brighter hence you could go a little darker with the tint and you wouldn't want to buy 05 lights for instance.......

Every time a girlfriend posts for help...the thread lasts like 3 years and 458 posts, so OP (girlfriend) wait a few days and then come back to thread and read the posts-a-plentiful. Since you are a chick and a hell of a good one to be doing this for your bf, the guys here will offer you sincere help and options not just on the tinting, but maybe that money towards something that he might like better.

My opinion, if he has yet to do any engine upgrades, get him the Jim Wolf Technology "Popcharger". It is only like $100 and a proven power getter and one of the best performing (and cheapest) mods available to us Z owners, and it makes the engine sound AMAZING on WOT.

Just a thought...otherwise go to the 'marketplace' on the forums and then to 'Inventors' section, and you will see a thread by "BlueBatMobile". He offers cheap ($ wise) overlays for almost anything you can tint on the Z.

G/L, and god bless you sweetheart for giving the gift of Z toys.

my best advice is: guys are very particular about their cars. I would be grateful if my girlfriend surprised me with random **** for my car, but chances are I would want to exchange it for what I really wanted. I doubt she would know well enough, even if she was given advice by informed 350z owners. there are too many options.

maybe you can still trick him into a surprise. tell him you were told about this forum and you saw lots of cool 350z's and was curious what kind of things he wanted to do to his eventually?
