Default scratches/chips on driver's armrest

The plastic panel on the driver's side door, the part that you grab to open or close the door, is badly scratched, mostly from my wedding ring. It really looks crappy.

How would you refinish or replace that peice?

You talking about the problem shown in this thread...

Replacment is easy but not cheap. Not sure if you can refinish it. It's basically a rubberized coating that would be difficult to match.

Some body on this site did a DIY fix on this issue. Search this sire. He took it off, sanded it down and repainted it. I have the same problem. I actually used a Sharpi that was the same color. Sounds lam I know but it worked.

If its that bad, just replace it.

Its less than $30 and only takes a flat head and a phillips to replace.

Get a can of DupliColor for Vinyl and Fabric, Flat Black. Some sanding and then shoot it with the duplicolor. Done.

There is a cap in the depression, pop the cap, remove the screw and you can pop off the handle.

Disconnect the two wiring connectors.

You can unclip the control boxes using a flat blade to pry the clips back.

.
I'm not sure what "depression" refers to? I have looked all over the whole area and do not see anything i would call a "cap".

Your help is appreciated.

^ guessing by your join date, your car handle doesnt have the pocket for coins......just a handle..........so the cap IBZ is talking about isnt there........its only in the 03-05 models where there is a cap with a screw under it to remove that part located in the coin holder section......

What year is your car.......if a 06 and up model, then i believe you need just a flat head screwdriver and pry at the sides carefully and it all pops out.......

Yes, mine is an '06, and no, it does not have a "coin pocket".

By "at the sides" do you mean the area toward teh front and the rear. or the area along the side that runs front to back.

(It looks bad enough as is, I really don't want to make it worse by damaging trying to remove it.)

Thanks

bill
