Default Interest in a polyurethane Nismo V2 replica?

I don't know about you guys, but I am outrageously sick of thin fiberglass and FRP "hybrid" bumpers. All it takes is a few laps of me crashing curbs on the track car and the lower lip starts to fall apart due to how thin it is and the material it is made of (which then wonderfully spiderwebs all the way up to the corners of where the headlights sit against the bumper). I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to do a run of polyurethane Nismo V2 reps, but wanted to see if anyone else is interested before potentially spending the cash to get a run of bumpers made.

Omg yes, but not just polyurethane. I forget what the material is called, but it's what OEM bumpers are. Polyurethane gets wavy and stuff, and is sometimes hard to paint.

good luck getting your friend to do a 'run' of front bumpers. that mold process will set you back $5-$10k, unless your friend is going to do it for you for free.. in which he'll probably eat around $2-4k of wasted material after finding the right ratio for the injection mold size from material shrinkage during the urethane curing process.

if you track it, then you'll know that polyurethane bumpers are heavier than stock, and heavier than FRP, and won't hold up as well to higher speeds w/o the proper support.

but hey. lets see it!

i'd rather buy 3 frp "cheapie" v2 bumpers for the price of 1 heavy polyurethane bumpers..

I believe it is polyurethane with high pressure injection? Either way like Cheston said, for track guys it is better to stick with FRP.

Certainly not. FRP is garbage and just breaks constantly (shatters, cracks, etc). The poly V1 we had on the car before this went through several YEARS and almost 30k track miles of abuse before we retired it. We've been through 3 V2's this season alone, that's absurd. If I can't crash curbs or clip a cone while sideways without having to replace the bumper something is wrong. (as in, the bumper is junk). Even with the **** quality FRP bumpers I still run flat stock lower supports to keep the bumpers from deforming at speed. Just like we did on the poly V1. I'm really just testing to see if there is any interest out there. I've been bitching to him about the quality of the bumpers and he came to me with interest of getting a run made. *shrug*

he would make his money back on the mold.... a lot of members would be buying them including me.... but if your tracking and wanting a nismo bumper, why not buy the autech factory nismo bumper?

I nailed a curb with my Shine V2 going probably 5 mph and all I got was a crack in the middle.

Cheston brings up a good point. FRP can be more rigid.

Not to mention I get sick of stuff quick. If my bumper cracks again, that'll just be an excuse to change up the look.

If this actually became a reality, I'd be in if fitment was perfect. As it is I'm planning on getting a Aerosync for daily driving, why not get something better looking IMO?

BUMPPPP, this needs to happen! It's a golden opportunity for someone who knows how to make bumpers.

+1 Count me in if you can get Nismo version 2 front completely in polyurethane.
I have a MSA type 7 and its TOUGH. and a heavy SOB! Quality is like OEM and fitment was perfect.
+1 for new ideas as well maybe a VERTEX in polyurethane as well as this other one I have found.
CAll it Rice i would rock it- DAMD has a front bumper (not the aston martin look)
Getting a mold would be a problem though.
I found this a while back and finally saw a member here had it installed check out the pics
