Default Removing an aftermarket spoiler?

I'm looking at buying a used '03 Z. It's nifty -- low-milage, enthusiast trim, plus a bunch of Touring extras, plus s-tuned mods. Shiny. Only issue -- there is an obnoxiously huge rear wing that I don't like the look of (and that makes the hatchback heavy to open). The wing looks like it's bolted to the hatchback in at least four places. Any idea what kind of price I'm looking at to get the holes filled in and repainted at a body shop? (Phoenix, AZ, if it matters). Also, I've never resold car parts -- any chance somebody would buy a used (but great condition) spoiler that's ugly to me?

Didn't think to take pics while test-driving yesterday. It looks similar to this one, though http://www.grounddynamics.com/Templa...ubFolderId=879 -- there's a 1"-ish thick plate the full width of the liftgate where the spoiler attaches, where the bolts are fastened, then the wing is mounted to that.

That's a Nismo spoiler. The one you posted is a knockoff, but it's Nismo-style. It's an OEM part. The one on the car itself is probably an aftermarket.

The car has the S-Tune package so it might be an actual Nismo spoiler, but I don't particularly like the styling or the "cop magnet" qualities. :P If I get it removed, what're the odds I could get a few bucks for it on the marketplace here?

Also, thanks DavidV. I made an offer on the car accounting for that and got it. So, new (to me) Z for me! =]

you could probably sell a painted spoiler in good condition for 300$ish.

If it has the S-Tune package, leave it on. It's there for a reason.

Hexxus, good advice. I forget that I'm now in the realm of cars that need a spoiler for aerodynamic and performance reasons, not to look pretty. And on second thought, it looks alright.

I'm probably taking possession of the car on Friday. I <3 my online bank.. except for the part where getting a certified check is a certified pain in the ***. I will post pics then.

I'm new to the whole performance/tuning scene, and I willingly admit ignorance, so any advice that keeps me from inadvertently decreasing the value or performance of the car or creating a safety hazard is definitely welcome.

That's cool. I recommend the you buy a Z that you like rather than one which is half-*** acceptable. Modifications such as a spoiler can be done properly or ghetto. Unfortunately you do not know until you remove the hatch cover and look at the sheet metal.

I went and looked at the car again when I finalized the paperwork. The spoiler's growing on me. So this question may have been in vain.

For those who're asking, the car is Redline Red (the deep red w/gold pinstripes) -- really gorgeous. Pics soon hopefully.

I think first new Z purchase may actually be a front-end bra -- Phoenix blowing sand did a number on my old Camry's paint. It's 20 years old now, so that's to be expected, but I'd like to keep this one spiffy and pristine a long while. But that's some googling and a new forum thread..

Good. If it works for you that's all that matters.
