It's definitely that thread lock from the factory. It was the worst in the 03's. Use a nice, long pipe wrench with a cloth over it. It will be easier because of the leverage. In addition, place some rubber bands on the wrench to protect your stock **** if you plan on keeping it. Most importantly, when you twist the **** off, make sure to hold the bottom of the actual shifter under the boot so it doesn't move. Good luck.

Just got mine off the other day. Just make sure you have vice grips on the shifter part real tight and just keep turning the ****. It was hard as hell but eventually it comes off. Putting gloves on helps.

Default How to take off an 03 shift ****?

I have an 03 and I turn it counter clockwise, but the whole thing seems to twist some. It honestly feels like I will break it before it comes loose. Is there something I have to do besides just twisting?

I absolutely love members that have been a part of my350z for 3+ years, yet don't know the common knowledge bible.

Good luck searching.

steps one by on for comedic relief after a very long day:

put hand on mouse.

move mouse so cursor hovers over just under the my350z.com logo at the top of the page left.

Hover over "Discussion Forums"

A pop up menu box will display

you only have to SLIGHTYLY move your hand and the mouse down to select "SEARCH FORUMS".. youl find this movement is simple and even enjoyable.

in the upper lefthand corner is a KEYWORDS text box

Write some fun words that describe what youre looking for, such as
"Remove shifter" or "Davidv arab ****" or even just the word "Dugan".

The limit your search by selecting TITLE ONLY riight under that very same box.

One of the search options Ive listed will bring you to threads that have already been written about just the thing youre wondering.. i bet you thers over 30 of them too! Sweet! Now you can read thru them all to sift thru the garbage to find something uselful to your real query.

Conngratulations, if theres already 30.. well.. youre the winner! Youre number THIRTY ONE! yeehaw!

The other two are just must read threads and will bring you countless hours of joy.

Now if only there was a way for you all to search for a way to stop being dicks. Each one of you literally opened this thread just for the intention of being a jerk. I'm afraid there is just no helping that. I'm on my phone with slow internet guys. I wanted a simple answer to a simple question...thanks duckee. Sorry lecture time is over. Go ahead and continue mouthing, obviously you enjoy it and I wouldn't want to ruin the fun.

If there was a thread I could search on not being a dick.. there's nothing id care to learn from it. You sir need to man.up and tuffen up a bit.

Just like that grip on the shifter... hopefully u don't ask women to open jars for you too.

No one was being a jerk.. you're just kinda being a poosee.

This is it 100%. ^^

Yep..its a gathering of men. ( no homo).

Im not customer service at bestbuy so no one needs to be vanilla on here. Btw..my comment ( to those in the know) was littered w my350z.com family references. If ud search the goofy terms I mentioned you'd see its some Damn funny epic forum threads in there.

Going on forums is an electronic way for us stuck in our cubes n all to spend time out back in the machine shop w the boys turning wrenches ..albeit virtually. A time honored tradition in 'Merica. Men fight and die for hot rods.

OP...Are you a damn red commie? !
Bahaha. Jk..

Seriously.. im grown. Hell u may even be. Relax..and at the end of of this..

Your question is STILL donk..has STILL been answered a million times...and you are STILL free to use the forum here w the cool kids... or run off and google "forums that wont hurt my feelings" anytime you wish.

Cmon man. U jus being silleh now.
