I use a vise and clamp just below where the yellow arrow is and mine came off easy.

I did read that post Failsafe, but I suppose that I was just too afraid to apply too much pressure.

BTW, after rolling down the rubber boot, there seems to be another isulation around the shift stick, did you clamp over that or gripped drirectly to metal?

Thanks

Gerald

Finally got it done, but the thread insert did not seem to fit well, as I kept turning and turning with just hand pressure, but it would not tighten. However, it stays on reasonable tight, tested it and a SAAB turbo landed beside me, the driver turned and looked at me, smiled and took off.

Well that was all I needed, moved to the middle lane after passing him the first time, and waited till he passed me; Gave him two more head starts on the I-95 and passed him on all counts. I got tired and pulled off at the next exit, he followed and yelled, "that is a beautiful sucker."

The point was the NISMO **** stayed on throughout the shifting.

Is there somewhere I could get the plastic screw insert that does fit snuggly like the stock leather ****? Have to also remove the metal sleeve under the ****, as the NISMO **** does not go down that far, and the rattling drives me nuts.

350Zzzz- Sorry for the delay. I actually put the vice grips directly on the metal, right underneath the rubber boot which is rolled down in your picture. But it sounds like you got it off . I have the Nismo titanium shifter http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...de=32865-RN108 and it fits nice and snug.

By ‘rubber finish’ do you mean the rubber insert, boot, inside the original ****?

I ordered it from Japan parts, the NISMO titanium ****.

No problem; as I did manage to remove thye stock ****. I wrapped the screw head of the shifter with plumbing Teflon tape and the **** sits tightly onto the shifter.

I saved it to my desktop and zoomed in. Don't bother. The resolution is so low that it cannot be read. Also, the pics are too blurry.

Thanks for posting though. Hopefully we can get a better image soon.

Those same instructions came with my Nismo **** I got for x-mas....all I did was unscrew mine while holding the boot/shaft in place and screw the new one on. You dont have to do all that, it should only take you 2-3 minutes to change your shift ****.

One of or UK brethern posted this pdf on a website. It is the exact instructions from the Nismo instructions. Enjoy. I just installed the Nismo Titanium shift **** 3 days ago and it will test your manhood getting it off. Oops and womanhood also. I know the Zchicks are watching.
