Default Carbon fiber Air intake

Hi,
New to the forum. My son is getting a carbon fiber piece that is to be mounted on the driver side of the front bumper. You've seen these... they funnel the air directly to the air filter.
We got this from an Ebay seller and it did not come with any hardware or installations. Anyone have any experience installing one of these? Rivets? screws? Tools used to cut the hole in bumper (Yikes!).
Any info would be helpful, as the Ebay seller was not.

Thanks
Z-Dad

I am sure someone will be able to help you out, check the "intake exhaust" section of these forums, I am sure someone posted a how-to regarding the CF intake duct.

Good luck.

cut with a razor, sawzall or whatever useful device and use rivets. Drilling holes and using nuts and bolts would probly work also.

Try some of these threads...

Search for Titek or Varis as those are two common brands of ducts.

since you have no idea which version of the duct you got (that's ebay for ya!), don't follow any templates or instructions to a T, just read them for general info. they are usually riveted down.

cut small at first and enlarge as needed, you are making an expensive mistake if you cut too large!

Just get some heavy paper and make a template, mark the bumper with your template and cut the bumper as mentioned above. Stainless self tapping screws work great for holding it in place

Lay intake face-down on a piece of paper and draw outline. Then position that piece of paper until you like the position (flip paper over from original cut) and cut with either an Xacto or box cutter. You might use an hair dryer to warm the bumper a little bit. It will cut like hot butter, so make sure you have a finger-tip grip on the knife. Then drill at all four corners and use pop-rivets to mount.

I've installed 2 of those with black anodized rivets for my friends using the template from the following thread: https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...-template.html

IMO this mod is for the looks or minimal performance... :P I might be wrong tho.

You need one of these

As for me, I'll avoid driving the front of my car underwater... with or without a duct since it makes no difference whatsoever.
