Default hatch back

I'm looking for help disabling what ever it is that wont allow me to open the hatch with the key in the ignition.

sorry to steal the thread but i bouhgt my car used and never had the owners manual is there a place i can get on or a pdf file on a website or should i just go to the dealer

There's nothing to "disable", that's the way it works.

Reach above the license plate. There is a rubber area that is the release button.

You have to wrap the seat belt around your feet, then hang onto the antenna with your left hand, then stretch REALLY hard. Of course, if you've removed the antenna, you're screwed.

There is also a latch you can pull from inside the car to open the hatch... I've never used it, but I know it's there

Under the rear strut bar - again, a pretty long reach from inside the car. I have never touched mine in 6+ years. BTW that response from Dave had me rolling!

LOL, gotcha... I thought the joke was a reference to actually trying to reach the back of the hatch itself from inside the car. I'm not really sure where the internal latch is because I've never looked for it.

It was - he mentioned the rubber button above the license plate. The emergency inside release in just a pull ring on a wire under the strut bar hatch.
