Default Headlight housing swap question

Hi,

I have an 04 Touring with the ballast and OEM HID's.....

My housings are getting hazy and ugly.....i don't want to do the sand/clean method on them. I would rather just buy new housings with clear lenses.

I noticed on ebay you can buy new headlights for the 03-05 model housing but they all say "NON HID".........

Q:
Is the housing identical to where i can remove the HID guts and all from mine and mount on to the NON HID equipped ebay 03-05 housings?

at about $90 bucks shipped for each one NEW...........I think thats not bad and would much like to get this crap done and over with.......as headlights are totally not my thing to be spending money on when it comes to the Z.....

Here are pics of 03-05 headlights that dont have HID....

it appears as if there is the mounting spot for the oem hid.......so im thinking yes.....i figure they are made in the same mold....just dont have the oem hid on them but CAN accept the parts??

anyone familiar with this? See the red arrow location appears to be where an oem ballast would mount? but these are EBAY non HID housings?

Im gonna compare these pics with mine when i get home and have my headlights in hand....

The answer is yes and no... The housing is the same and has all the same spots to mount the HID wires through the bottom but the actual clear lens outer frame ( sections that go into black housing and screw in ) are a little shorter then the OEM ones. Doesn't cause a problem just make sure u check for any leaks before installing them with the bumper.

FYI: Everything inside the housing is also cheap projector lens amber reflectors and chrome housing. Dont touch it with your naked hands because any finger print you leave is never coming off... if you even rub it with a cotton ball it rubs off the chrome and turns black...

let me know if you need anymore info >^_^>

The internals are crap anyways in the ebays!!! But the lenses are just as good quality. Buy the ebay lights... put em in the oven 8 min. swap just the clear lenses. Use the black out headlight tutorial for further info.

Ive done it before. Its flawless and easy. Trust me!

ha...ha.. ya trust me i don't know it all.........but i do love cars and swap'n engines, installing parts, converting 240's from auto to manual....etc..etc...mechanical is more my forte'..........

i searched, but this question wasnt answered anywhere i searched......tons of "look at my painted lights threads" and "aftermarket HID threads" but nothing on swapping HID to non HID housings....

headlights just DON'T interest me w.h.a.t.s.o.e.v.e.r.......

i hate spending money on headlights of all things....i would much rather get more tires for the next event or the next mod over headlights any day.......im actually a bit surprised this headlight crap is getting to me as typically my car isn't the cleanest.......

I've done the oven method before.....i did the clear strip where the amber strip is at......from Ricks2k.com.........

I may just do that then.........just buy them and swap lenses only onto my housing.......not a bad idea....
