I just lucked out with a buddy of mines unfortunate loss!! ...... our fellow facas311 got a hit and run which totaled his Nismo z....

my gain was all the center console including the nismo badge and shift **** along with a/c controls and 3 gauge upper console which pretty much upgrades my dated 2003 350z (also his passenger door panel but no driver side it was ruined)

anyways i thought it would be a plug and play just reroute the emergency button over to the new location. even thou the emergency lights did work the a/c controls and 3 gauges on the upper console dont work ..... the a/c turns on as if the back pigtail was disconnected and the gauges nothing whatsoever....

help if anyone knows how to rewire or whatever i need to do to make this work i would appreciate it!!!!

p.s. i had to leave my old console and parts at the junkyard in order to take them insurance purposes so im screwed in getting them back!!

 

The rice gods are telling you not to put a Nismo numeric plate on a non Nismo Z.

 

Imo try trading some parts back and forth and see what you can do with that. I know you said you can't get them back, but I'm pretty sure you could buy them off the junkyard in order to use your old parts. I dunno, I've never some something like this before and I certainly hope you're not swapping only one door panel...

Yea, I would definitely say no Nismo plate on a non-Nismo. It's kinda...disrespectful imo to the people who actually have Nismos. For the record mine's a base.

Well to add to that I'm not adding the door panel till I get the drivers side but my plans are to convert my car to a full put nismo last year I spent on my built block this year on the v2 nismo kit ...at least. I don't think that would make my car look Ricy lol

 

Let me see if I can understand this. You have an '03 Z and a center console out of a NISMO Z with the number plaque still in it? IMO, facas311 should have kept the plaque for himself, or at the very least you should give it to him, since you're Z is not a NISMO Z.

And change your signature, poser: You don't "kinda" have NISMO #1161, you don't have one at all.

 

NISMO Z's have the V3 kit, If you really want to "covert" to a NISMO Z, cough up the $8k for the nismo kit from Z1.

 

wow i never thought id get so much critique for getting a unique center console such as the nismo when my intentions will be to convert fully to a nismo!!!!!..... 8k in parts I spent over 12k just in engine mods .... please keep in mind im NOT trying to be all bada$$ about it i know theres people that spend more on their Z's, but since i came across this WHY NOT CONVERT TO A NISMO.... people try to replicate nismo's all the time the only difference will be i got what nissan to my understanding wont sell you the plaque on the center console ..... the owner is fine with this and is a good friend!

this year i was gonna concentrate on what body kit i was going with i have not researched it yet but yes the v3 kit or simplified the kit that came out with the 08 nismo is what i will be shopping for i already have the OEM rear bumper so i will be looking for the rest.....

No matter what you do, you can NEVER "convert" an '03 Z into a "full" NISMO Z and just because you have the plaque doesn't change that.

Well duh, because they're ONLY meant for the NISMO editions, not someone who's trying to rip one off.

NO, NISMO #1161 no longer exists, you can't go around parading you have a replica NISMO #1161. That serial # went with the vin # from the NISMO it came with. What would be acceptable is just plain "Replica NISMO". Even the Two non nismo owners in this thread are saying not to use the plaque.

BTW, it may be a "joke" to you and your friends, but to actual nismo owners, it's very disrespectful.

 

You can't just swap it in. The whole car is running off a different motor and a different ECU with different sensors and different wiring. You will need to swap all the electrical stuff in order to likely make it work properly, which, for a different center console, is a ridiculous waste of time and money.

Take what you can from the little stuff if you want (seats, shift ****, etc) but the electronic stuff leave it be.

like i said before sorry if i offend anyone with a nismo but i like the center console the way it looks i wont pretend to own a nismo but its my car and i can put whatever i want in it...

its cool i got help to finishing my swap got it figured out believe me im not here to show off what i dont have but from leaving that plaque to rot in the junkyard to having it in my car looking all bada$$ I PREFER THAT!!!

I understand your point, you say you're not trying to "pose", but your doing just that with that plate. Not to mention you want to build your car to "Nismo" specs, you could never have that unless you have an HR swap, hood & kit. The perception is that you have a fake Nismo, if I saw that a meet or car show I'm sure you'd get flamed until you left.

 

you see theres a better way of putting it thanks man i dont know why i wasted my time with a 16 year old ..... my plans where just as far as looks interior and exterior..... i got other plans i wasnt going with all nismo parts performance whise.... you make a better point i might just have a plaque done without the #1161 being that i like the plaque and how it looks....

 

People sometimes take the Nismo thing a little too seriously, much like the 350z HR vs 370z debate. I can understand them being a little sleighted because you are posing your car as something you are not, but it is your car as you said and as long as you can deal with the comments you would get because you had that in your car, so be it.

you need the white box behind the aC controls from your friends car too...

thats technically called the unimeter - its the white box with the flat thin ribbon cable that plugs into the AC. go leave yours at the junk yard and get his.....

Now you're changing your story so which is it, are you "converting" to a full nismo Z "replica", or just a look alike? And no, They're not the same thing.
