Lost my keys
Hi guys,
Well, i lost my second key and remote a few months ago and im finally getting around to replacing them. But first i had a couple quick noob questions. Ive never replaced a car key before so im trying to figure out the easiest and cheapest way to do this, i know i dont want to spend $200 at the dealer. I understand some of you are torn on the quality of ebays keys but some of you also swear by them so im going to risk it. Obviously i will have to pay someone to cut it but i am not famillar with the process of programming a key or a remote, is it something i can do myself? If so, how?? Ive been searching but cant find any specifics. Also does anyone know somewhere in northern VA that can help me with this? I would really apreciate any help you guys could offer, Thanks!!

You can't program the keys yourself unless you have a Nissan Consult scanner. The FOB remote you can program yourself.
You must have all keys present during the programming because they're initialized all at once. Just purchase a cheap Ebay key or one of those fancier key/fob deals, get it cut and then bring all your keys to the dealer and have them program it.

You possibly could, some locksmiths carry equipment that are able to program Nissan keys. Your best bet is to call around and ask your local locksmiths. In my fairly small town I couldn't find anyone able to program Nissan keys so I had to go to the dealer. My dealer charged me half an hour to program which was $55 or so.

Sure no problem. This is the same procedure I used to program my Ebay FOB.
