Check the fluid in your master cylinder. It might be low.

They're probably referring to fake HID or purple HID bulbs. Anything higher than 6000K is useless. Therefore >> RICE

03-05 headlamp design has pretty poor performance. Personally I got so damn tired of it I ripped out the projector units and replaced them with some from a BMW M3. Take a look at my thread here if your interested. A lot of work, but cheap and a pretty big performance increase for the cost.

The easiest thing to do, but costly... is to buy some 2006+ 350Z headlamps. They use a full size bixenon HID projector which performs way better than the 03-05's. Edit: I didn't see you had a base 04... this might be difficult. I'm not sure on getting the wiring setup correctly, you'd need someone who knows about the wiring in our cars. I certainly don't...

You could also try installing new HID bulbs, they lose a lot of brightness over time, even if they don't "burn out". New HID bulbs will be a fair bit brighter for sure, especially if you still have the originals going on 6+ years now of age. Edit: Irrelevant since you have a base.

Lastly, you could buy some 55W or 50W HID ballasts for D2S bulbs. I've heard some are pretty good, There is a company called DDM that makes a pretty cheap kit i've heard good things about. Also Greddy is apparently making one now, theretrofitsource.com sells them. http://store.theretrofitsource.com/p...f83207f979c338

Edit: You could buy a 55W HID kit, but no one here has posted pics yet of how HID bulbs perform in the 03-05 headlamp designed for halogens, the beam pattern and cutoff could be crap.

Whatever you decide, try to keep your bulbs at 4100K, 4300K or 5000K... the higher you go the bluer they get and they lose a fair bit of brightness the bluer they get. Most people agree 6000K and up starts to look really rice.

GL....

i have a base 03 and put a 35w 6000k HID kit in it, as mentioned, I was terrified of terrible cutoff and lens flare, but in all honesty it is not terrible and made quite a noticable difference at night. You'll be fine if you get one, just plz don't go above 6000K.

these are terrible pics, and excuse the misaligned headlight, but just as a general idea of what they look like

as I said, I'm pleased with the cutoff, no noticable hotspots, and they aren't blue as crap.
