Default Molding front lip

Any dis advantages to molding a lip to the oem bumper?

I think my lip would look alot cleaner with it molded. Not need to really remove the lip either

thanks

One thing I was worried about was I scrape sometimes nno visiable damage happens but the bottom of the lip that's unexposed makes contact.

So i'm hinking that the mold won't flex and is fragile? So small impact will crack it?

Molding a front lip is NEVER a good idea in my opinion.

That lip is probably going to hit the ground at some point and when it does, it's not going to treat the filler very well. Expect to repaint a few times if you mold a front lip into the bumper.

And another thing to think about is when you do scrape enough time that it needs to be repainted its alot cheaper to just have the lip redone. If its molded you gonna have to get it all redone

I've got a molded lip just cuz i visit the circuit every once in a while.

I've scrapped plenty of times already and it held up. The upper part of the bumper flexes. Just stay away from the curbs that's all.

Agree.

I have seen a rubber moulding between lip and bumper. Then painted. Looks good.

You are speaking about fiberglass so the bumper and lip looks like one piece? The problem is structural integrity. Any flexing of the lip will crack the fiberglass.

Note: I have also seen white bumper - white lip done with flexible bath caulking (I suspect). Sounds tacky but looks sharp. You have to get very close to examine how it was done.

There are one-piece bumpers with a lip available.

Thats not true. i live in Ny with notoriously bad roads and mine looks the same
as the day I picked it up almost 3 yrs later. Yes it has scrapes but the mold work has held up. Molded looks so much cleaner. Yes i've had it repainted but thats due to chips in the paint. Listen to people that have experienced it
