Blitz spoiler
Looking at installing a blitz spoiler in the near future.
Found this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...r-spoiler.html
It looks like the 3M tape that is already a part of the spoiler is strong enough, so I do not plan on using screws/rivets.
Just wondering if you guys have any install tips?
It seems like a straight forward install, but you never know. It is not something I have done before.

my experience with an authentic blitz spoiler was terrible.
it refused to fit after hours of work, and frankly was unusable.
if you believe that this will look good with tape alone, you're wrong.
it'll look garbage without a doubt. you'll need to do tons of prep -
so don't waste your time considering cutting corners.

When you say: "if you believe that this will look good with tape alone, you're wrong"
What do you mean by that? Does the spoiler not sit tight against the hatch?
Thanks for the input guys.

Firstly, I do not have photos of the blitz spoiler I am referencing.
It was resold to The other rob, whom also found it to be totally useless,
albeit i sold it really cheap and was open about my experience.
It "seemed" to fit well initially, however as my body guy worked
it, he was unable to get it to sit flush on the hatch as intended.
Frankly, I ended up with a fully shaved hatch.
The spoiler's design makes placing tape on the bottom doable,
however you'll create a gap in doing so. I am the MOST picky
of all, and just didn't want to mold the whole thing especially
considering we were unable to ever get it to sit perfectly...
IMHO... try the jp type B (the thin lip). these things are purely
aesthetic and produce zero downforce, so i say stay as minimal
as possible unless you need something track oriented.

Install was simple .. it's good to have a helping hand to assist in lining up the spoiler with the hatch and placing the spoiler down. Make sure to clean the Area on the Hatch before you install to make sure that no dust/wax will interfere with the adhesion of the 3m tape Also after install it's good idea to have some sort of weight sitting on top of the spoiler to keep the 3m tape from popping up, just place a towel on the spoiler and put either a 5gallon jug of water or a case of brew for at least an hour or two. I have had mine on for almost 3yr's and have gone above 100+mph numerous time's and the spoiler has held on. I got mine from EvoR on the Marketplace.

I have the EvoR replica, which they claim has been modified from the original Blitz spoiler so that fit is so perfect that it can be held by 3M double sided tape. Mounting is was pretty easy and straight forward.
1. Just sit it on the trunk, line it up where it's fits nicely
2. With someone else helping, hold it, and mark around the edges of the spoiler on the hatch, I used a washable water marker
3. Clean the surface where the 3M tape will touch
4. Peel off the backing of the 3M tape
5. Line the spoiler where you marked the edges
6. Once it's lined up perfectly and sitting how you like it, press firmly wherever the tape is located for it the fully adhere to the hatch
7. Wipe off wherever you marked
It's been over a year and it has held up with no issues whatsoever. Still sits firm, no movement and even held when I took the car to 155mph.

guys for the safety of others driving behind you, just do it right. Murphy's law sucks and when in doubt, just do it right.
Go to any BMW dealership and buy Betalink K1. It's a special silicone that BMW uses to attached their own spoilers.
3M tape, yeah it's strong initially. But who knows after months and years of extreme temperatures and the elements. Don't risk it.

I used:
1. tape to align
2. rubber gloves (to keep the oil of my hands off the car)
3. Cleaned the section very well
4. Had a friend help
5. pressed firmly
Good to go!
Not my best pic..

Good advice on resting a weight on there while the adhesive sets. I recently installed a replica OEM style spoiler on my car and it fit great when I put it on, but now the corners are starting to peel up. I don't think it will come off because I would have to pull on it pretty hard to get the rest of it to come off, but weighing it down on the corners while it set initially would probably have solved the problem.
