Hatch Issues
Has anyone ever gotten in their car and noticed that there hatch isn't closed properly? I have had it happen a few times recently and I have not opened the hatch for at least a few days before, then I go get in my car and the light is on when I get in and it says that I haven't properly closed all my doors.
I find this really odd, I do have a Nismo v1 spoiler, but I can't seem to think that makes any difference.

Right now my trunk hydraulics are going bad... But that just causes my trunk to not stay open... I haven't had any problem with it shutting though. In fact it shuts on its own, sometimes on my head.
I gotta track down some used hyrdraulic truck lifters....

Haha, me too man. Its terrible in the winter. I just dont feel like spending $100 on new struts. OP, I have also never herd of it not closing properly, thats odd.

How do the seals around the hatch look? It would take some pretty extreme swelling to cause it to not contact the switch properly, but a possibility I suppose. How about the latch area, clean and free moving (for a hatch latch anyways)? Hopefully it's just something easy, not sure how the wiring runs through the back, but it would suck if it was the sensor going bad.

I doubt that it is the sensor, it just seems as though when I come out to get in my car and open the door, the hatch light is on. It also tells me on my dash that is open.
As to the struts, they are position correctly, obviously don't hold up the weight of the V1 spoiler, but that isn't the issue. When I check it, it is partially clicked in, but not completely sealed. Enough to where the sensor says it's open, but not enough to pull it open from the outside. However you do have to push it down in order for it to close properly. I find this really odd, I haven't ever heard of this happening before and it only does it every once in a while.

If it's an intermittant problem, I would get some white lithium grease and lube the latch mechanism. It might just be something as simple as the latch hanging up. Another possibility would be that the latch itself isn't adjusted properly. Has the car ever been in an accident? From the rear specifically? If it has, it could throw these parts out of alignment.

No accidents, the alignment is perfect, it maybe just an issue of the button on the keyless entry being pushed without my knowledge. That is the only explanation that I can think of that could make sense.

Might be. I personally own a 2004 Maxima and depending on MY, the remote is more than likely the same and I've never had an issue like that. Buy a belt clip for your keys and experiment with it for a week. If it doesn't happen, then there it is.
