Default 06+ Headlights - swapping small side parking lights

I'm trying to change my parking lights from yellow to white to match with the low/highbeams for a nice clean look. So far I've swapped the larger parking lights (168's, below the low/highbeam) to white Putco LED's, but I have no idea how to swap the four small yellow LED's that run up the side of the headlight above the low/highbeam. I called CinCity Designs and they said I had to do something with the circuit board, and that it is "a pain in the nuts". Has anyone modified these lights before?

I believe they're soldered onto the circuit board. Meaning it will not be easy to change.

So if I wanted to make them white, I would have to open up the housing to get to the circuit board, take the old lights off the board and solder in the replacement lights? Any idea on what bulb they are?

Agh.... I just painted my headlights last night..... And yes they are on a circuit boad that can be de-soldered and have new ones re-soldered.... I would've taken pictures but I was getting tired so I just threw them back together.... But its not an easy "take out and slap new ones in" kinda thing. Good luck with everything.....

Cool, thanks man. So you didn't mess with the lights at all, you just painted the housing right?

How are the turn signals doing since you painted the housing? I'm worried there won't be any reflectiveness!

I think the amber parking lights against semi-flat black housing looks pretty cool imo. I just got my headlamps blacked out by Lightwerkz. I was contemplating whether to change the parking lights to white LEDs as well but the installers there told me it's complicated and would involve circuit board soldering.

OK, what about the turn signals though? I'm thinking in terms of safety (legality, really). I don't want to get pulled over because my turn signal bulbs aren't reflecting off the housing, thus not being noticable enough.

As for the circuit board soldering, a friend of mine just did some of that two days ago so he's got a gun and plenty of solder. It will be a project but I might as well do both while I'm in there!

i don't think you'll get pulled over because of the lack of amber reflection. As long as the light is clear and visible from a distance you should be good. Here in NJ no cops care as long as they blink amber

Once you get the case open, an easy 4 3mm leds to solder.

The 06+ lights are extremely bright... as the projectors don't use the reflective housing and the LED turn signals are bright by themselves.... the only thing I have to get done is re-align my head lights..... I'll take pics and post them here tonight if you don't mind

Mine are a little crooked as well, are you re-aligning them yourself? If you are, please send me some info on how to do it. Thanks man.

Really old thread but i just got around to changing the 4 leds on the corner since there are no threads on here in regards to changing them. Each amber LED runs 2.5 volts and there is 4 resisitors soldered on to the board. Super easy work for someone that knows about leds and using a multimeter. I ended up using four 5 mm white leds. And also from the looks of it, it not a 3 mm, the led head has a weird shape and not like the typical leds you see for purchase. Its kind of like a flat headed LED but with a round tip in the middle.
Im actually quite surprised that people at these headlights retrofit businesses didnt want to tackle this one. Easy money for them.
