I beg to differ. I know of a few people here in in Spain and the UK that would take one. Then you've got all the track junkies in the US, which i am certain their are a lot of. There is definitely a market for it.

 

buying large sheets of ABS plastic (5'x7' ~ $80) and trimming it down to go around exhaust piping is not hard. then you'd need some support spacers and bolts then that's pretty much it. you can then even use this as a basis for your mold/plug if you wanted to do it in kevlar.

 

If i had the time to do it i would, belive me. I do a lot of fiberglass work on the boat, and carbon fiber (wet) is exactly the same principle.
The problem is, i only get 6 weeks at home every year, so i don't want to waste it.
If by the time i've finished with the car there still isn't an undertray for the car, then i'll make one.

 

How about making a replica of the GT300 racecar. But i do mean an exact replica, not like chargespeed or sorcery or any of those other attempts out there. I would pay good money for a serious track oriented bodykit like this.

Would you guys want a naca duct in the rear to cool the diff also? And just in FRP or carbon? Its hard to guess a cost on something like that because shipping is going to be really expensive and there is quite a bit of material.

Just in FRP I could see it being close to 700 + S/H

 

I think a naca duct for the diff would be a good idea. Once you have the mold made you can let people choose if they want it in carbon or FRP. Because it sits below the centre of gravity i wouldn't mind really. but wet carbon would probably be my choice.

 

Nacas ducts sound great.FRP ...would b cheaper

We can pretty much make any part, but there has to be enough interest in it to make it happen.

There are about 30 people buying that bumper. That is the type of projects I can get the owners to make happen really quickly. I would love to build some great new unique designs for the 350z but I need the concept and the people there to make it happen

 

Three things.

First. That bumper doesnt look particularly hard to make. In fact it just looks like a replica. There is nothing custom about it.

Second. Your making that part for Corvette people. One of the most common and popular sports cars in the US. Of course your going to get more people wanting it!!!

Third. Your advertising yourself as a custom parts maker. The very nature of custom means your not going to get huge amounts of people for one part. If you make something truly radical, then people will buy it. But what you want is a guarantee up front that 30 people will buy it? That's not going to happen with special parts, i'm sorry.

I am one person that would be willing to pay the price for a truly unique and functional piece, and like me there are many, but not all of them want to pay the money before seeing a final piece.

 

We wouldnt need 30, but usually 10 people commited to a project can make things happen. We don't really do one off unique parts.. There is so much prototyping costs that we never come out on it.

I'm sure in time we will come up with something that the 350z community would like and we can produce.
