The window goes down a tiny bit when opened...when closed it goes up to seal it.

I had my car tinted and they charged a alot because of this...basically they open the door,,block the sensors so the window stays up and wont roll down and tint the whole window.

couple parts have been said here.

first off DURING the tint job, the door would be open, meaning the window is down a little, meaning they have to tint an inch or so below the seal. this can be done by just pulling the seal back and putting the tint down in there, or remove the door panel and seal. the latter is more difficult, but IMO seems better as you can clearly get all of the glass.

the second part, first off by doing the previously mentioned part, there is a minimal amount of rubbing since the seam is below the seal, and thus it wont catch. but as for the top edge, they need to use a heat gun to dry it 90% of the way. it wont slide or roll that easily then.

The two methods given for getting the tint on the side windows when the door is open is a lot of extra work. All that needs to be done while the door is open to get the window back up is to have someone hold in the button on the door frame. This simulates the door being closed and the window is then fully raised while the door is open. They can put the tint on the side windows fairly quickly so the button doesn't have to be held in for a long time.
