Default 06 HID Question

Okay here is my situation..

I own a 2006 Nissan 350Z with the Factory Bi-Xenons.. I usually drive the car on the street and have fun with it. But I got bored one day and stopped at my local arts and crafts store and picked up a can of stained glass paint.

and painted my stock 06 headlights with it.. Don't get me wrong it came out awesome.. But now I have gotten bored with it and want to go back to something stockish looking. I have tried to remove it with paint thinner, and goo gone extreme with no luck.

Would I be able to change the cover out without having to replace the whole headlight assembly?

Or

Since I love the way the 03-05's look could I just buy a set of those and change over the harness? if so how would I do that, is there a wiring diagram out there for both the 03-05 non HID's and the 06+ HID's?

Yes I am talking about going from HID's to Non HID's, unless I can buy a kit and get new headlights and a conversion kit to use HID's and the stock harness on my car.

I will probably get flamed for this but oh well its worth a shot.

if you wanted to get rid of your 06s I would have traded you for my 03s. 06s ruined. /cry!

as for your questions... sorry I have no idea. probably part not knowing and part being the time of night so I just don't comprehend. I'm kinda confused as to what all you have going on here. HID to none unless I can or if I can unless I can. but if it's just the housing you're getting rid of on your 06s maybe we can work something out. Surely I Can take the cover off mine and put it on an 06. They got to be the same.

ive seen this question asked numerous times, and every time, someone replies by saying you cannot just get a new plastic lens, you have to buy the entire headlight assembly. But your in luck, im sure someone would LOVE to trade their 03-05 headlights for your yellow 06+ ones.

you will undoubtedly be hunted for ruining a pari of one of the most sought after parts for the Z.
haha .

I will gladly sell you a set of 05 headlights.. hey! we can even trade..snicker.
I could always go for a spare set of 2006 lights.

If you like the "look" of the 2005 a- youre crazy haha. b- know that the light output is terribel.. its an EXTREME downgrade to do such.

Maybe you didnt know.. no big deal.. just telling ya the truth. Either way anyones brother will gladly pay you for a slight swap for thier 05 HIDs. the harness is the same.

I say this becuase i have 2007 lights on my 2005, no hitch.

I think those can be saved, sandpaper, a lot of hard work, and a good buffer they should get very close to new condition.

I'd suggest 800 grit -> 1000 -> 1500 -> 2000 -> polishing or rubbing compund (Meguairs or Foose drill accessory works good in this stage) -> buff.

I might do it this way, only thing I am worried about it scratching the plastic and ruining them even more. Maybe if I find a a video on youtube..

I mean I mechanically inclined, it isn't to much to pull the bumper and headlights.. I have done it before lol

Thank you

I used 1000 & 2000 grit on my 2005 plastics followed by the Meguires restoration kit (abrasive polish and drill accessory) and they look good. There still are micro scratches but nothing anyone notices but myself. I would suggest wet sanding when you're doing it.

The lens on the 03-05 headlights are the same exact size as the 06 headlights. All you have to do is bake the lenses in the oven and swap them out. I did this when my original headlights got tiny little cracks in them and the end result was brand new looking headlights at a fraction of the cost of buying new 06's.

Good to know, those cheap ebay lights may be worth something after-all.

waittttttttttttttt i may get bashed for this one butt i have an 06 with the cheap ebay headlights ( i got screwed by a bodyshop and was in a pinch and had to but i rather not go into details right now) the lens may not match up. fitment is pretty close but there is a small gap from headlights to edge of bumper. even though its only like 200 bucks at the end of the day its still 200 bucks.
