What does this port do?
Under my dash is a port that keeps hitting my left foot every time I shift. I try to place it back under the dash but it just falls down again. I am trying to figure out if it is from the Nissan Dealership not putting everything back together or if it is from the Best Buy installers from my audio upgrades. I have been to Best Buy many times and have a pretty good system. I have uploaded a video on youtube showing the port as well as a couple of pictures recorded from my Droid X (yeah I had to throw that in there lol

obd2 connector used for the check engine diagnostic tool
You can Move it to any area since its not used often but it should be accessible should any codes pop up.
I have it too but mine is bolted in place, did someone remove the bolts?
Ill snap a pic of mine if you want to see how its supposed to be mounted. Ive never hit mine during shifts

LINUX is right...
its the obd2/nissan consult II connector used for to check engine diagnostics.......
as you can see it has two mount holes......take your time and look up under there and find the oem mount hole locations......reinstall or zip tie it up the hell out the way and shift knee obstruction free...

For future reference - here is where you can download/view the Factory Service Manual (FSM)

2 small screws, perhaps m6 are holding the plug in place, it has a hole in the plastic for it.
I took 2 pics of it, you can see the hood release to orient the pic for yourself.
Try the threads and mount it in the open hole, it should be visible. Sorry about the pic quality, i guess it needs more time to focus and all the light came from the flash alone.

its a really easy fix, just grab 2 screws from another location on the car to test the thread and stop by home depot to get stainless steel replacements.
He could stop by bb just to check if they have the screws laying around, tools probably rushed as always. Nissan left all of my plastic covers from under my car when they replaced the pan
Called me hrs later to install them.
