Default d2r hid replacement bulb

hey, so today i replace the stock bulb with a 8k d2r bulb for a 2004 350z touring. It comes with stock hid obviously and i know stock 4300k is brightest but i wanted the looks. Anyways i installed it and i notice that the bulb can't lock on like other cars i installed hids on before. How do i know when do i stop turning the bulb to know that, thats the way im suppose to lock it on with the pins. As of right now, the glow on the floor seems uneven different shades everywhere. CAN anyone help me????? thanks

I had the same problem with mine except I used 10k's. One of the bulbs burnt out within a couple weeks anyways, so I just put the stock 4300's back in.

you bulb is burnt out maybe because of the ballast or the bulb itself.... or your wrong installation....

doesnt the projector have a metal clip to hold the bulb in place?
You swapped the oem hid bulb for a higher kelvin right ?

Im not sure what you are turning, it should be, unclip metal fastner, insert bulb, replace clip.

Does the new bulb have a little shield painted on like your stock bulbs ? If it doesnt, thats what may be causing your uneven beam. That and most aftermarket bulbs arent really centered like philips (xray). They just eyeball it and sometimes the bulb is crooked.

IMO i would never run non oem bulbs in my car (as an hid retrofitter)

Let me know if you need any help, perhaps post a pic of the trouble area (back of light). I played with d2r 350z projectors a while back, but i still recall the way the bulb is fastened in place.

Cheers

higher kelvin with yellow salts = further electrode separation = less life span

Its like getting a car with a 90% burned out clutch straight from the factory

Maybe people will learn with time that anything over 6k is a waste. You should go after the red salt bulbs at 6k anyways but thats a whole other story on its own.
