Default Heavy duty hood shocks?

Hey guys, I jus recently bought an 05 Z 2 weeks ago and I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem as me. I tried to search the forums but didn't have any luck. My Z came with a huge aftermarket spoiler which is causing the hood shocks to not work properly because of the weight. I went to Nissan today and they told me new shocks would be almost $200 each and they might give out again b/c of the spoiler. Does anyone know of any heavy duty shocks that I can buy to fix this and hopefully not cost $200 each? Thanks

Replacing the rear hatch struts is common: https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...ck-struts.html.

We are talking about the rear hatch correct?

..and be careful. When it gets cold the hatch will crack you in the skull.

The hatch struts do not last forever. And a rear spoiler just puts more stress on the struts. Figure yours are about 5 years old. When it is about 40 degrees outside you will see if they do or do not work.

Yeah I was just wondering what kind of aftermarket struts you guys bought and how well they worked. I'm gonna order the ones from the ebay vendor.

There is also a 12lb weight in the hatch that you can remove which might help in keeping the hatch upright.

I only replaced one side on mine, even with the Nismo wing. My friends car that i stole the strut from could easily launch small kids with both aftermarket struts installed.
