Default LED side z emblems

I own a 2004 Z that I bought in 2007. I never realized that the previous owner had installed LED side Z emblems until today when I removed them to paint them (they had wires attached!!). I don't care for LEDs, and I don't want to have to remove the headlights to un-clip the wires. Can I simply just cut the wires off from the back of the emblems, mask the wire ends, and drop them through the emblem clip hole? That would save me a lot of hassle since I don't want to save the LEDs. Please let me know if you think this would cause any potential problems. Thanks

That will be OK. You might also want to make sure none of the metal edges on the holes are bare metal, which could rust. Touch them up with a good rustproofing primer.

Shoot me a PM if you want to sell the LED's.

Thanks dcains. I am actually going to paint the emblems and reinsert them, just without the LED wires attached. I'll just keep the wires dangling inside the panel in case I want to use them later.
