Default Headlight issue

I tried doing a search but i couldn't find what i was looking for. On the drivers side of my car (year 2006 model), the headlight and hi beams will not work, but the orange indicators still do. Does anybody know what could cause this, (i checked the bulb and it is still fine) and how it could be fixed? thanks.

Ill check that tomorrow. I would like to hopefully get as many ideas as possible as to what could potentially be wrong tonight, so that tomorrow morning when it is light out i can check it out.

This type of troubleshooting is a pain in the butt. You can trace power with an inexpensive continuity tester. You can find hot and cold power, and perhaps the failed component.

I checked some of the connections briefly and they seemed tight. Im going to probably take the wheel off tomorrow, or today i suppose, so that i can check more thoroughly.

Does the low beam work? When I took apart my headlight housing to mod the 06+ it's technically an actuator that moves to change the direction of the beam of light from low to high. The bulb itself doesn't change, so if you got low beams but no high, it sounds like this could be your problem. That is of course, after you check all your fuses under the hood and in the fuse box in the car. Hopefully it's just a fuse somewhere.

A second thought on it, if only the drivers side doesn't work, it could be the ballast that gives the hid bulb power. If your getting voltage at your headlight plug you know it's the ballast causing the bulb to not ignite the xenon gas inside. Take the wheel off, remove the plastic lining in the fender and you will have direct access to the plug for the light. Meter it with the switch on in the car. I think there are 3 wires, blue, green and something else. The blue should be the turn signals and won't get 12v until you hit the switch but the other two should. One is the parking light wire for the amber LEDs and the other wire should be for the headlight power.

Agree. No mention of HID or no-HID. For HID I suspect a failed ballast.

I assume that being this far into it, you have already checked all the fuses. That should be the #1 thing you always check.

Then again the other guys sound right when they say ballast; usually one fuse runs both headlights, and you said one of them works.
