By locked, I assume you mean the belt won't extend from the reel - correct? Assuming your airbag deployed, that means the tensioners also "fired". In the event of a crash, your belts tighten up to help hold you in the seat. I suspect they are a one-shot mechanism and need to be replaced too.

BTW- who "fixed" your car? If they weren't competent enough to fix the seat belt tensioners, I'd be worried about whether they really fixed the air bags, crash sensors, etc.

As above, you didn't get the car "fixed". Contact your insurance company.

I had my passenger seatbelt lock up and I was very concerned after reading this thread that I'd need a new retractor. But I wasn't in a crash though I had recently gently touched a curb - but it seemed far to gentle to activate a crash sensor.
Anyway... I played around with the belt for 5 minutes and it seems ok now. So maybe that will give someone hope :-)

With no air bag, you really do need seat belts.

Since this thread was resurrected from over SIX years ago, the OP has probably gone through the windshield of his Z and no longer has to worry about not wearing seatbelts.

And this thread, BTW, has some of the DUMBEST stuff I've heard!

Not wishing any evil on anybody, but you know they are out there. Individuals who've decided that wearing seatbelts are not for them. They may even be the same individuals who leave their cars running as they run into the store for smokes, I don't know. Regardless, it's a free country, even if you KNOW they're going to get hurt or even killed.

I understand you, dkmura. I share your thoughts. I personally don't like wearing seatbelts because some(the Z's) get progressively tighter. Not a characteristic I Iike, but I deal with it. Also, it's ironic that you said about people running into the store while leaving their car parked and running. My grandfather had a '57 Chevy that he had left running as he went into a store, and when he came out it was gone. Just a bit of info. but the relevance is there nonetheless..
