Default What is all this crap and what does it do?

Ok. so I am gutting out my z anf lovig every minute of it. I am far from a mechanic and am struggling with figuring our what all these wires and electronics hidden al around the z are. Is there a thread or can someone creat a thread that explains all about what everything is? I am very interested to see what I need and what I can get rid of.

It's all crap, you don't need any of it, just cut it all out.

You might get a factory service manual. That might answer a lot of your questions.

How many people here do you think actually gut their cars? One, two dozen? Feel free to be the innovator and put such a thread together. Or at least spend the time and search out some of the race car builds in the Road/Autocross and Drag forums. That's your best chance for finding others who have gutted a Z.

Why are gutting the car?

If the car is still drivable, you could disconnect a couple connectors, and drive the car to see if the all the things you want still work.

the field service manual has everything you need to know about where the wire bundles are located and what they are for.

if you are far from a mechanic and even further from an electrician, gutting and cutting ask should not be attempted-- unless you have the proper schematics.

you can purchase day usage of Nissan's online technical website here:
