Default Installing OEM Steering Wheel. Is it right?

I am removing the aftermarket steering wheel from my 2007 ZR and putting in an OEM steering wheel and airbag.

After I removed the aftermarket wheel and hub I see a white connector. That makes since and I see the wire that gets connected to it. From there on out, is where the confusion occurs.

1. When I remove the airbag from the steering wheel, I see one red and one yellow mating connector on the airbag (see pic). What is supposed to go here?

2. On the steering wheel column, on the right side there is a connector with the blue plastic tape piece (not sure what it is exactly) sticking out . What is supposed to connect here? Is the blue plastic tape looking thing supposed to be there if anything?

3. There is a green wire on the steering wheel (see pic). Where does this connect?

4. It looks like the steering wheel is supposed to sit on the white circular **** on the left side of the steering. The steering wheel has 2 holes on the left and right for alignment pins. But it looks like the steering column only has one alignment pin. Is this correct?

Sorry if these are noob questions. Bought the car used and the aftermarket wheel was on there and removing it for the first time.

Thanks!

Still confused on what may be wrong with my steering wheel that I am putting back on. Did some research and saw that their are airbags with only a yellow connection. Not sure why mine as a red one as well. Also, i saw that their are 2 wires that run from the steering column to the airbag. My car doesnt have these wires and I have no idea where they connect to the steering column.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

You need to get the service manual for your year car, and you need to be sure the wheel and air bag are the right ones for the year and trim model you've got.

I was afraid of that answer (that the airbags are year specific). I asked this question to the my350z.com user when I bought it and he told me that it would work. Should have done some more research. =(

Any leads on finding a service manual for a 2007 350z Grand Touring Roadster?

the red and yellow connectors mean you have a dual stage airbag. This was only introduced in the later models( I can't remember exactly after what year ~after 05).

The first model ones only had a single stage airbag (one yellow connector).

There should be a connector on the steering column, it should come out of the clock spring assembly. I can;t see it in the attached pictures.

Thanks for the clarification. I have a 2007 Roadster so hopefully mine would have been OEM with the dual stage (red and yellow) airbag. However, I couldnt find the red or yellow connectors in my steering column. Am I missing a harness? Not sure if they are buried and need to be pulled out

looks like you are missing the wiring harness that connects to the airbag. it plugs into the connector you noted the blue tape thingy, which i am guessing is a resistor to prevent an airbag light...

Ok. So I am missing the airbag harness. That was something that I was thinking was the case. Do you happen to know what the part number is for this? called Nissan and the harness comes with an airbag. Dont need the airbag.. Just the harness.

Unfortunately the blue tape resistor didnt work, since my airbag light is on.. haha.

the green wire is for the horn. it connects to the small tab on the left side of the spring loaded bracket the airbag mounts to.

Thanks!

Anyone know where I can get the wire harness that connects from the clock mechanism to the airbag? I need one that has the red and yellow connectors. I called Nissan and its only available with the airbag.

Found some on ebay but not sure if these are correct. Dont see how they connect to the clock assembly:

looks like the clockspring and airbag wires are one and not a separate harness, so you might have to buy the whole clockspring..

It says "WHEN YOUR AIRBAG DEPLOYS THE CONNECTORS ON THE BACK OF IT ARE NO GOOD ANYMORE AND A NEW CLOCKSPRING WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED. DONT SETTLE FOR JUST BUYING PLUGS AND RISK YOUR SAFETY. BUY A GREAT WORKING CLOCKSPRING AND SAFE MONEY AND KEEP YOURSELF SAFE."

So the plugs may be able to be replaced only (judging from the fact that mine isnt there anymore and it was replaced with possibly a resistor covered in blue electric tape). But I am not 100%.

Appreciate all the help.
