Default Healight smoke/overlay

Cheap mod, thinking about it. currently im all black/daytona blue
figured why not match and smoke the headlights or grab a DIY overlay(we've done the taillights and turns they came out great).
However I've heard alot about 1)bubbles 2) stress cracks 3)impaired visibility at night. Anyone have first hand experience with these? thanks

^^+1. Open and paint them. Its not hard at all, just tedious and takes time. Not being offensive but unless you are half retarded, opening and painting them should be easy.

i have a overlay on my headlight but its just the amber strip and a little over onto the hood and IMO it looks great. Darkens up the headlight just a bit.

i have done this and it did cut the output of my HID's quite a bit at night. when i removed them for this reason i found that they stress cracked everywhere...had to replace them with knockoffs it was so upsetting.
saw it on some pricey 07's too....cracks everywhere.
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are you talking about the headlight coloring tint by eurolight or a vinyl tint / film like laminx or blacking out headlights?
just curious cause I have barely any output change at night with the eurolight coloring, mine is just a light black tinting though as they have darker.
did mine because when someone hit the front - only damaged my drivers side headlight and insurance/bodyshop only cover the $ to changed the one. So I had one old light with slight yellowing and the other was brand new and clear so I wanted to get them similar with the difference "not as noticable"
want to get a pair of 08 headlights but couldn't afford it just yet so did the coloring.

I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when smoking your head and taillights was cool. Don't know why anyone would do it now.

Considering this is my daily driver I won't have the time nor patience to opent them and risk painting and such especially for resell value. But thanks for the tips about the vinyl overlays being bad I won't do that. My taillights and rear signals are smoked but I don't think that's the same as for heat and light output...can anyone post pics with the eurolight everyones saying? Sounds like it would work pretty well.

Not a great comparison being that I took the before shot the day before & later in the day so it was getting dark but you can see the yellowing on one vs the other.

Before:

After - looks lighter in the picture than in person but both headlights are now closer in hue:

Its not exactly a 2 step process as eurolight says on the box but its not rocket science and not difficult at all. Tried laminx before and it was a PITA to get it to line up and then gave up.

Yeah I got the lightest one available and my camera doesn't capture the darkness of it very well. It is slightly darker in person and more noticable than in the pics. Light shines through great at night as well, really don't notice any decrease in the output.

If I could do it over - I would probably go with the darker black coloring.

Not sure. If so, you'd have to use less than the recommended amount per headlight.
Recommends 5ml per (large) headlight which I categorized the 350s to be.
The kit comes with about 10ml of the color coating so maybe use onlt 3ml for the first coat on each, let it dry and then divy up the rest for the second coat.
but i am not sure if that would cause streaking or make it look

Update: The eurolight coloring has started to flake off after almost 3 months. Not sure the cause as I followed the application directions to the T.
I wash my car with meguiars gold class (light wash over the headlights - never scrub washing) and detail with a dodo juice time to dry detailing spray which i don't spray onto the headlight, just wipe down the headlights incase over spray from the detailer gets on them.
Although I loved how the eurolight coloring looked:
Going to remove the remainder of the coloring, polish and I guess order a pair of 06+ headlights in the future, like originally planned.

Hope others that used this has better luck with it lasting.

I believe there's a DIY on polishing out yellowed headlights either on this board, tech, or motoring. If it were me, I'd try that before breaking the bank on 06 lights. That is, if you are truly doing it so the both sides match up again.

prior to using the eurolight I polished the crap out of the lights using several different methods, steps and brand polishes. problem is after the accident insurance/body shop only replaced the broken left light. right one was untouched so I have the right 6 year old light that yellows up every 3 weeks and the other one looks brand new constantly.
I will check out the DIY you mentioned to see if looks like it would last longer than previous steps i have tried.
dont mind forking out the $ for 06 in due time. not going to put myself in a bind to get new lights.
good looking out though. thanks
