Default Aftermarket hood, need hood gasket???

Have my new hood painted and ready to fit, debating on getting used or new oem hood gasket.
Any ideas/suggestions on whether or not the hood gasket is needed or beneficial for those who run different hood w/o it.

Thanks

I removed the rubber around my firewall and trimmed down the plastic lip that the rubber goes on. I'm sure it helps under hood temps. I touched my wipers after a 100 mile drive today and they were extremely hot. I'd leave that stuff off if that's what you're talking about.

If you mean the rubber at the front of the hood, I doubt it matters. It will possibly keep air from going under the hood and causing it to lift and cause drag from entering your engine bay. It's probably not going to be a noticeable difference.

^^This....muffler bearings, wtf? Front of hood obv has rubber gasket, after hearing from a few, it clearly doesn't need to be on, which is good bc, it saves $ and time.

ha, bro...you should have bought a Veilside hood like i did.. then your hood wont close all the way anyways... and then theres REALLY no use for the gasket. haha.

I tell myself the half inch gap is what makes my car as cool as a Lexus LFA w the air gap "on purpose".... haha.
It is not a convincing tale. haha.

^^ Ha, my CRP bizness has a bit of gap, better cooling FTW right?!

I modified hinges on hood, but bracket only allows for 1/8" movement, will weatherstrip a bit here and there...btw nero pegaso Lambo paint code 0052...absolutely gorgeous
