Well I upgraded today to the bixenon headlights BNIB and I also did the STI-R lens retrofit only, no painting. I used the OEM HID ballast with aftermarket 12k bulbs. Honestly the cutoff is beautiful but the light output is not that great. Probally I need to adjust the aim of headlights OR get different bulbs???? But overall I think the $850 I spent on headlights is worth it.

if you want the best light...you must fit 6k bulbs...so the light is very white and beauty

I like the blueish look though. How about 8k?

you're getting horrible light output with 12k HID's

the OEM bulbs are 4300kelvin - those are your best bet. If you want a bit more color, without losing too much output, maximum should be 6000kelvin. 12k is just a complete waste unless all you want it to do is look a certain way, rather than perform as it should

8k is hardly light blue in my opinion... it's blue as hell. 6k is very slightly blue... with bulbs becoming more white as you go down to OEM (4300 if I remember correctly). Then they start turning yellow as you go below OEM.

Default N00b Question About 2005 Headlights

I have a 35th anniversary Z, and want to black out the headlights. They are bi xenon, and I'm wondering if they are the same as the 06+...being true projector lights.

You should have projector beam xenon.

your statement OP has several issues.

the 2005 cars didnt have bi Xenon. They had an HID low beam and a separate highbeam.
2005 was 2005, model level or otherwise, no LED tails, no BI Xenon headlights.

in 2006, you get LED tails a new interior, and among other things, a true bi-xenon headlight. Meaning its one projector and one bulb, and a motorized cover flips open to make it a highbeam.

IE, you dont have the same lights as a 2006, and you also dont have a bi xenon.

Blacking them out is fine, but they are a far inferior light to the 06+ bixenon.

Id upgrade the lights before id mod what you had.. and thats exactly what I did.

(Took my own advice )
