Default Carbon Fiber Hood With Best Fitment?

Ok I'm considering a carbon fiber hood but there are so many to choose from with prices from $450 to twice that much - at least from what I see on eBay.

I've heard stories about poor fitment, 1 inch gaps between hood and fender, the curve of the hood not following the curve of the fenders, spider webbing, etc.

What are some good hoods to look for? What are the ones to stay away from?

thanks guys

plain and simple the answer is none unless its dry carbon but even then the weight to price ratio is not worth it stick to your stock light weight aluminum one is you want do the nismo rs mod and save a few more lbs and make it look a lil more aggressive

ASM, MCR, Amuse, Cwest fit well all the time... Everything else is 50/50.

I've had VIS and Seibon, the Seibon was best by far with rolled sides and a nice waxy coat during shipping process.

Granted these were on my STi back in the day.

I also had some junk ebay hood for my old talon, fit like crap was crappy hood in general, sharp corners. Junk. Stay away from ebay, I think my hoods were from 600+ for something decent.

dry carbon has nothing to do with something fitting or not fitting - there are crappy dry carbon parts too

a mould is either a good one, that is not used to make a billion pieces and replaced frequently (ASM, C West, and others), or it's not (VIS, etc etc)

Seibon stuff is hit or miss I find - their HR units fit way better than their DE ones, but even the weaves are inconsistent and the front gap at the bumper and on the passenger side headlight tends to be a bit off vs a true OE fitment

At the last few car gatherings I've attended, I have yet to see one fit well on a Zee. The gap between the hood edge and the fenders is almost twice as big as stock. Not sure which brand they were, but of the dozen or so that I've seen, no bueno........and if there's not much of a weight difference, why bother?

Yes but why? If its a look thing fine but it's heavier than OEM and doesn't fit as well.

do the RS hood mod, to be honest, best looking hood ive seen.

carbon saves you ZERO weight and always goes yellow after 1-2 years in the sun.

Yes. I went with Seibon, the fit is great and my CF Dampers work great with it. Like it A LOT more than my stock hood since I've gone all Carbon Silver/Black.

Edit- I just got her back after adding a crap load more CF, Painted door handles, etc. Getting married tomorrow so I haven't had the time to clean her or giver her more attention. This is the only pic I have.

Locking hatches are a must imo.

Saw a VIS hood once and fitment was spot on... I really think it's hit or miss with anything you buy be it hood, bumpers....... underwear.

I think it just depends on who is making the part and the mood they are in that day. LOL!

Size: 111.2 KBWent back to oem because I don't like pins or latches and don't trust fiberglass holds/stays to keep hood coming up at 140mph
