When Debadging goes wrong! xD
So theres been a crack in the "Z" in the 350Z badges on the back so today i decided i was finally tired of looking at it and was just going to completely remove it. Well i found out why there was a crack in the Z shortly after removing the badges. Whoever owned the car before me must have decided to debadge it as well, and then decided to put them back on.. using super glue.
I've debadged my cars before, and it was as easy as heat it up, dental floss it off, rub the glue residue with goo-gone. Boom. Not this time! Heated up, took the badges off, now theres crystalized glue all over it that I cannot get off. Looks so bad xD Dumped half a bottle of goo-gone on it, tried heating it up and peeling with my fingernail, nothing is getting it off and its still rock hard.
Any suggestions to get this sh*t off?

clay bar, goo gone, bug and tar remover, clay bar, clay bar, clay bar.
It will take a long time and alot of effort but it can be done.
Maybe use a credit card to scrape the glue if you feel comfortable doing that on your car, I've done it on my old cars with no issues

yikes... buy a new set of badges and just put them back on... looks like chunks of paint removed with it... all the chemicals used to take the glue off is going to haze the remaining clear... Or repainting the hatch will be in the near future for you? Epic fail on the previous owner...

Get some Goo Gone and soak the area. Put a piece of black trash bag over it, and let it sit for a bit. Should scrape off pretty easy after that.
Then just wash the area really well, and clay bar/wax/etc to remove any imperfections.
The black plastic trick will keep the Goo Gone from evaporating.
OR! My personal favorite...

OP, i know what you mean, goo gone etc will work over time, but to be honest, the proper way to do this is with a 3m pinstripe removal wheel.
Its expensive as hell, at like 38 bucks from Napa, but its a small gum rubber hard wheel that you put on a dril at minimum, but best on a high speed air tool or buffer... and it wil literaly erase it all, and it will do it with no scratches like my credit card gave me... you should expect that no matter what, even when all the adhesive is gone, youre car WILL have a ghost image of the emblem still due to oxidation from the sun..
2000 grit sandpaper wet, very lightly until its very lightly hazy, and then a spot of cutting glaze ( from meguiars) and then a nice polish aftere, then some wax.. youre golden... and guess what? All these items are availabel in the headlight repair kits sold at stores by Meguiars. sand paper, instructions, multi stage polish etc.. be very ginger w it, and you'll be fine.
I know youll think.. Fuh.. thats alot of $ and sounds like the long way.. well, its the right way. Sorry man.

i dont think goo gone will remove super glue, that doesn't look like the 3m black rubber tape residue that normally comes off of emblems and badges
i second the put the badges back on.

If that is Super Glue, I don't think anything short of sanding it off will get rid of it. I'm not even sure what the first emblem is that was removed but that damage looks impossible to fix without a paint job. It also appears there is clear coat damage in several spots underneath the emblems. I think taking your car to a body shop is the only way to repair that damage.

omg these guys are idiots... please take a hair dryer, googone, and fishing line outside... Just use the three items like every other retard that removes emblems off their cars and just get off and stop crying.
take the car to the body shop? lol why are you talking about something you know nothing about? shut up.

Do you know what you are talking about? please show me where Goo Gone will dissolve cyanoacrylic...

Proof? I had to super glue mine back on too. It comes off with patience. Don't get to flustered just keep going at it. Acetone didn't sound like a bad idea, but I am unsure of those results.
