Default Replacement key and remote (08)?

I only have one key and remote. I thought Nissan would give me the second pair under warranty but they said I have to buy it from a dealer. On my F150 I can program spare keys in the ignition as long as I have one original. Can this be done with Nissan? I purchased the spare on fleabay for a lot less.

Can the second key be programed in the car's ignition?
Can I program the remote myself?

The key FOB yes you can program it yourself. The key itself no....and they're expensive!! I had mine done by the dealer (paid for by the dealership bc I bought the car) and it was $170 total

Why would a warranty cover something that isn't even in the car? Maybe you should have asked for it before buying the car, as in "negotiation".

They only made $100 so no I didn't negotiate a second key. I found keys and remotes on e-gay. Programming would be covered under warranty. I had my second Ford key programmed for free under warranty (programmed the 3rd myself). Oh and yes, I found how to program the Nissan key myself as well.
