350z Spoiler
Hey Guys,
I have a 2008 350z MT Black. Car came with no factory spoiler. I kind of like the stock spoiler so was wondering where I can get one painted. I recall seeing a site but can't find it anymore?

I had a good experience with spoiler depot, others have complained about fitment. The fitment is 9/10, i need to reapply it eventually with new adhesive and ensure the ends stick down a little better or use screws and 3m to mount it rather than just 3m. Paint match is perfect though. Your choice, all depends how much "perfect" is worth to you. You may consider the blitz replica spoiler painted too, the price on it isn't unreasonable (350-400 painted shipped i believe). Pick what works for you!
You can buy one through a dealer if you want to pay through the nose. The 0EM look spoiler is available through many sources. Most vendors, incl spoiler depot,CARID,do a good job in paint match.Your color being black,is pretty easy.In reality, the OEM spoilers that are installed on the Z are not a 100% perfect match.Same goes for the add on mud guards. This spoiler is not a difficult install. However,on the OEM,holes must be drilled in the deck to mount.I imagine, some replicas use only 3-M tape.

Now, I have mine installed with the 3M tape only, and I made sure to clean and degrease the deck, then apply the 3M Adhesion Promoter stuff to the paint prior to applying the tape. Done it twice now, with the same result.
Have you reinstalled it yet using the mounting screws? I'm thinking that by "pinning" the spoiler a couple inches from each end, as allowed by the provided hole locations, may limit the effective shrink at the ends of the spoiler. But if you found it to be ineffective, that will save me from drilling holes through my hatch.
I went with one off of eBay and I'm pleased with it. Matched the silverstone perfectly. Also had the 3M which stuck like super glue when I applied it. It also gave you the option of drilling. Supplied the screws and everything but I didn't want to drill into my car. It's not that serious. I also wasn't going to spend too much over $100 for a spoiler so this fit the bill.
I have one from spoilerdepot and have found the material to be very thermally reactive, i.e. it expands and contracts a lot based on temperature and/or direct sunlight contact. When I had it installed with just 3M tape the ends would not stay stuck (due to imperfect fitment) and this would get worse with the thermal growth, i.e. the thermal movement of the part would distort the 3M tape and cause it to separate.
Then I had the bright idea that I would finally install it the "right" way by drilling holes in my hatch and pinning it on each end using some studs and nuts in addition to the 3M tape. Well, it took care of my fitment issue by pulling the spoiler down flush with the hatch. But, the material is still just as thermally reactive as before, and now it's pinned at each end so the growth all goes toward the middle, resulting in the spoiler bowing upward as it expanded in the heat of sunlight.
So now I am in search of an authentic OEM spoiler, which should not have this thermal growth issue (unless someone can convince me otherwise).

FYI, I stumbled upon this today:

These appear to be authentic OEM units, color-matched.

. So anyway, how does the spoilerdepot.com 350z spoiler hold up to thezstore spoiler? Big difference in price.
