Has this ever happened to anyone's headlights before?
It's just crazing (severe in your case) which can more than likely be linked to temp expansion/contraction. No sanding/polishing will take that out. As a matter of fact, I refinished some lenses on a Z for my very first customer. They were very deep and I was surprised he didn't have water damage. All the oxidation came off but the cracks were more prominent after I was done. You'll need to replace them if it bothers you that much.
youv already gooten good answers...ugh, its gonna suck having to replace the cover. Iv done it so Im pretty sure anyone can in that case
Theres plenty if DIYs around on how too as well.

I did a retro on my '03 headlights....before they went into oven they were clear...after 265 degrees for 7 minutes x2 times i found smaller spider lines similar to yours but smaller all over my lenses. I ended up buying some $100 headlights from ebay and im hoping that they dont develop these. im thinking maybe 240 degrees for about 8 minutes....?
think that will be ok???? i dont want to ruin this project

I had this and a lot of fogging when I bought my Z too. I got a restoration kit at pepboys for $20 and in about an hour or so my lenses looked new. I think you just sand away until you sand the imperfections and then put a new coat to protect.
Anyone else try it?

I didn't have anything on my headlights and the same $h1t happened after couple of years owning the Z. It's probably weather change? Left out in the sun for too long? Who knows... All I know is our headlight plastic cover are made of pretty cheap quality.
I ordered tint overlays to hide the cracks because my headlights look horrible.
