Default What type of head light do I have....

Been reading to much on which is which and i have gone and confused myself. I will try and take better pictures tomorrow during the day. is it HID or Halogen, I'm asking cause one of them is out, Im pretty sure it's HID's and that the ballast is out from the symptoms. But wanting to make sure before i go buy the part. Or would i be better off with a after market kit instead?

Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like halogen. When the lights turn on, does the color slowly shift? If so, then you have HID. If the color doesn't shift, then it's halogen.

This is a common tip to know the difference between the two, which has been addressed a billion times already. I'm sure you came across this in your readings...

Take off the bumper/fender linings, and you should see the ballasts. Pretty simple.

And the answer is HID's and it is the ballast according to the nissan dealership, and apparently only way they can fix it(which i would never let them anyways) is to replace the whole thing for 850 to get a whole brand new headlight because they do not sell it seperatly

You can buy ballasts separately on ebay, or members might have some on here in the marketplace. Just look.

For $850, you can find a decent used pair of OEM 06+ headlights. I did for around $750. Better light output and better looking too.
