Default Where exactly is the chip in my Key - Need to drill

I've looked into the switchblade mod that people are making, it's nice and all but I'm wondering if I can just use a small bit and drill press to make a nice little hole in my broken key to attach my key ring. This is my spare so I am trying to just be somewhat cheap in fixing this. But also know that it is just a matter of time that I lose this spare without a keyring for it.

I have a 2003 Touring if it makes a difference, although we can't be 100% certain this is an original key really. I attached a picture for reference, and note that there is a little rectangle "cutout/groove" marking on the bottom next to the actual key part. Is this where the chip is located or not?

If we can't be 100% certain then I won't drill anywhere. But if the chip is usually in a corner, or that rectangular spot I see then I can drill through a different area. Thanks guys!

if you look down the blade you will see a line in the plastic portion. It will only be on one side. That is the transponder holder.

drill through the nissan logo.

Yes this is the rectangle cutout that I was trying to explain. So that is the chip, and as long as I stay like 1.5cm or so away from it I should be ok to drill?

I'll go a bit above the nissan logo to make the keyring less awkward, that all work? Thanks for dealing with a dumb question, but could you imagine the rage if I saw chip flakes start coming up through the drill bit...
