Not cheaply painted on, but QUALITY bulbs i.e. Phillips or Sylvania.

Something like these:

Me too. I saw a Z the other day turning left in front of me and his turn signal was clear/silver and it was REALLY bright. I want that.

You certainly can't those Phillips ones in a Z fitting. At least not in the UK.

Anyone have a URL for APC?

Thanks

you can get some on ebay for about 12 bux a pair. I got a pair (not APC) and it wasn't paint. Its pretty nice, and if it does fade or chip, I can always get another.

I did a search on Froogle.com and found a site that had PIAA 7440 and 194/168 both in Xtreme White. I bought them for $27 shipped for both pairs. I have no idea if this is a good price and don't really care. It is fair enough considering I don't have to go to Pep Boys.

Default 350z silver turn signal bulbs

Go to ebay and search "350Z turn". That brought me to pro street lighting's silver turn signal bulbs which run $15.99. They are not painted, but rather the glass itself is silver.

I just received mine and installed them today. IMO they look great and work great. It looks completely silver (w/ no hint of amber), but lights up amber. I think they make the entire front lighting cluster seem more integrated and smooth. I would also suggest getting some for the rear turn signal as that one also seems amber and might gain an advantage at having all four turn signals match (2 rear and2 front).

With my experience the shipping took a little bit longer than expected. I paid on 1-7-04 and it was shipped out 1-12-04 then I received them 1-17-04.

In case this post is viewed shortly here is the link: 350Z turn signal bulbs on ebay

just a small warning.....
i got a set of the silver bulbs that light up amber off ebay. i put them in and they looked great. i really like them a lot, but a few months after the bulbs were in i noticed that the silver housing above the turn signal bulb was getting dull. i think the bulbs burned at a higher temperature that caused the housing to heat up more than it was supposed to. i immediately took them out, but the damage was done.

Thanks ALL for the suggestion.

And thanks MGL for that honest take on what happened.
That's EXACTLY what I'm trying to avoid.
We all know what a pain in the **** it is just to install bulbs in our cars, so when I do it....... I want it to last!

Now then...... For all you guys that have actually done this, can you do me a favor an grab the "stock bulb" and tell me the:

Any & Everything the amber stock BULB says on there? I mean numbers, letters, words, etc.

Thanks, TX

mgl, did you ever have the lights blinking for an abnormal amount of time when you tried out those silver bulbs? In everday normal use I just don't see how a blinking bulb can have enough operation time to heat up to those extreme temps.

Also mgl, do you by chance remember the sellers name that sold you the silver bulbs?

grab onto a bulb sometime, they can hit full temp in about 15sec, and dont dissipate it nearly as fast. I clocked the parking light bulb at 260degrees. thats only 5 watts.

Wow - that puts a different spin on it Ares.

Possibly the silver coating oxidising and that settling on the reflector (rather than the heat damaging the reflector).

Just speculating.

its possible. I thought Id heard of someone else describing the same problem. might have been you, MGL. didnt think it was though.

could just be the metal is transfering heat better, so it does dissipate it faster, and thats the problem...

The silver turn signals bulbs I bought run at 8/27W. Is that the same as stock or is that hotter, colder, anyone know?
