Default Need help finding a hatch weight

My stock hatch did not have the weight installed. I now have the Seibon Carbon Fiber OEM Hatch and need the weight for help keep it from vibrating & shaking. Does anyone know where I can get the item. Junk yards have been no help. I'm trying to find someone that either would like to just remove theirs and sell it or someone with a spare hatch that isn't using the weight. The dealer doesn't sell the weight by itself.

This is what it looks like:

Search for WetDreamZZZ on here. I'm friends with him, he said his hatch had one and he took it out(idk if he kept it though). Mine didn't have one in there either...?

Did you install the weather stripping and springs from your OEM hatch? Those are the pieces you need to keep the hatch from shaking.

Bingo, hatch will still shake with the weight he needs to figure out what is loose and fasten that instead of just adding more weight

The weather stripping has been installed as well as all of the plastics. However, it's not a PERFECT fit, as most carbon fiber stuff goes and the passenger side does not sit as flush as I would like. When I roll down the windows at speeds over 50mph the pressure causes it to shake. With the windows up there is no issue. I'm just hoping with a little bit of weight, it will help.

Nothing is loose.

I may pick this up from you. I'm heading to Kentucky for Import Alliance next week and I'll see how the trip goes first.

Yes, those are installed. The only things that were not transferred are the lift supports (too stiff and caused far too much flex in the carbon hatch) and the wiper motor.

At higher speeds with the windows down, it's almost like it is not tight and almost looks like it's bouncing. I adjusted the latch all of the way down inside of the trunk but did not seem to make a difference.

I know what you mean. When I had my VIS CF hood it looked like it was bouncing. I determined that it was a "skeleton" that held the shape of the hood, then the top layer of CF that was laid down and not necessarily glued or molded to the skeleton and air pushing/not pushing on the hood causes it to look like it was shaking up and down.

Not sure if this is what's going on, but a $20 weight that is easily removed isn't too big of test to run to see if it helps.

Good luck!

My hood doesn't do that at all. I think there's 3 reasons for the bouncing look:
1) The passenger side isn't fully sealed due to the slight misfitment (common with carbon fiber parts)
2) The weather stripping doesn't line up the same on the quarter windows
3) Pressure within the cabin with the windows down no longer has a suction on the panels, such as the hatch & windows, allowing them to move freely

We'll see. I want to drive the weight before I drill the whole for the wiper motor and put that one as well.
