Default Hit a dog. Need a bumper.

Just hit a dog in my 2007 Enthusiast. Knocked out the right bumper side reflector and split the bumper in 2 places below the side reflector. Not horrible damage but I'm going to make a claim with insurance.

I'm wondering if the 2007 Nismo front bumper is a direct fit? I'm interested in the Nismo bumper only in regard to improved performance on the track (I can post this in the motorsports forum if I need to.) If the Nismo is just for looks then I'll just replace it with the OEM original bumper. And if the Nismo does provide some aero benefit will that benefit still be there without Nismo side skirts or diffuser?

Finally, does the Nismo bumper have any provision for brake ducts or do you still have to cut holes for the ducts?

Found a Nissan factory Nismo V3 bumper plus the "front diffuser" (black plastic part that mounts under Nismo V3 bumper) for about $1000. This is at a west coast dealership, West Corvina Nissan. I think there is a piece that fits over the front lip that would be about another $80.

Not sure the limited downforce from this is worth the difference in price from the OEM. Again, I don't care about looks so much.

Wouldn't the dog's owner be liable for the damage? Or is this considered an act of god?

Either way it's a crappy situation.

I'm pretty sure that the animal owner is liable. This dog ran out of their yard and into the road to chase the car in front of me. He never saw me. Couldn't swerve because of oncoming traffic.

And even though I am, truly, a heartless basterd....it was a poor neighborhood and I did not have the heart or time to try to get money from poor folks whose dog I just ran over.

So you left it in the street so some poor kid could come home and see his dog laying there dead?

All dogs go to heaven... as for you I am not so sure anymore....

Now as far as the front bumper, why not just stay stock non nismo? Unless you are planning to go with nismo rear bumper (which works in conjunction with the front bumper by channeling airflow) besides looks the performance would be negligible.

No, I left it in the yard where it landed. What would you have done? Mouth to mouth? Knock on the door and hand it to them? Put up a little cross? Drape it with a sheet? Draw a white outline around it?

Seriously, sad situation. The dog was chasing cars on a busy road and it was fortunate that this dog didn't cause a major accident.

Everything but the mouth to snout seeing how you ran it over I know the poor guy has passed on. Possibly a memorial service also

Seriously though I ran over a little beagle once. I was watching one dog on the side of the road. When he ran across from the other side. I could feel/hear him bouncing underneath my car. Horrible feeling

Yeah I've felt that "bump bump" before and it feels bad that you couldn't do anything to avoid it. My friend in So. Cali. crashed his '07 HR last year getting onto a freeway and some dog ran in front; he tried to miss it while he was doing hard accel. on onramp; end of a great modded HR and he got messed up. I admit that "Fido" or little "Sparky" would have been history if it were me and I'd be looking for new bumper and/or wind shield.
