for anyone curious about adding illuminated radio controls from an 06 to an earlier model like I plan to do:

Aaaaand for those who want steering controls to be totally programmable and multi function programmable w short and long hold variances, we use this Joycon EXR:

Had dyno comp weld up a 10AN to the power steering pump main fitting.. stock pipe is a weird diameter.. no more fkn around now.. 10AN pushlock on both sidea and im set.
kept having leaks thru the orig welds I had done on this fitting.. this was now boxed , welded from underneath, and dime stacked outside.. this should never have an issue now.

Not exactly the level I was looking for, but im being a beggar right now, and this will work until I have extra cash to really dial in an oem looking mesh and fitment.
Finally got the catch can and ps reservoir plumbed and leak free with full 8AN and 10AN push-lock fittings and hose, far more than necc for some smoky oily air to run through.

This is far less busy than what I had previously, and honestly there's nothing timid or low key on the car
not the case at all.
You're simply coming into a very long thread a bit late
No biggie
This is a front engine car that is being fully flat bottomed w a total exhaust revamp planned as well (exiting from the still open holes at the bottom of he bumper).... the heat generated and trapped between the chassis frame and the floor will be nothing short of ridiculous.
The reason this bumper was chosen in the first place is that it will easily lend itself to the sweep up of a purpose built integrated diffuser section, and would allow large areas to evacuate trapped air above, supported by dual fans ( when that actually occurs)
This is the same idea you see on the back end of many super cars, except the engine is much closer being in back most often, and I'm going to have a much harder time w heat then they. After chatting a bit at SEMA, DEI will likely step in w some of their products to wrap and insulate against much of the radiant heat
Most likely, I will still have to remove a center section under the engine and trans during the summer as I foresee dramatic heat failure for many components if not. Boiling at the gas tank and other similar issues have occurred in the similar build my friend has been carrying out on a 370.. he's the guinea pig. Not like I can do much w a big boosted car in summer in Arizona anyways.. we take it easy w them in summer and drive them rarely here.

my carbon steering wheel just shipped out tome today... the end result video I was sent by snapchat was fantastic.. I'm more excited about this part than any other section on the build tbh

well that's interesting and makes more sense. Definitely an interesting solution, but it seems like you are making things more difficult than they need to be by going with a non-vented hood.
If I understand correctly you are sending the engine heat between the floor and the flat bottom panels all the way to the back of the car. Why not just vent out through the hood?

The reality is that heavily vented hoods like the one I had before absolutely ruin the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The hood and especially the cowl area of the z play a huge role in the down force balance of the car.
I could swap hoods for summer time, and I planned on it, but for winter time, its too aggressive looking, and is one key difference in looks between something people see as a modified car, vs a nice car that came that way.
Regardless, the flat bottom will still require heat exit , using any hood, doesn't really negate this.

I personally like the white, and think it works best with the color of your wheels. Something like red or yellow would be too much color, IMO. White and blue gives the car a nice, clean look.
Are you consulting with someone regarding the aerodynamics of the car, as in doing wind tunnel tests or something similar? It surprised me that a vented hood would have such a large impact on overall aero, but I could see that. Going for a full flat bottom is pretty ambitious, but I wouldn't expect anything less from your build. Keep it up!

there's plenty video out there, plenty to learn about.. and yes.. I've talked to a few people who make aero for a living, but there is no wind tunnel testing to be done.. it cost thousands upon thousands if you're even lucky enough to live anywhere near one.
Its done with theory, experimentation, modification, and more testing. floor dryer and surveyors tape, then strings and go pro video at speed.. and then the rest is just up to feeling the performance balances or imbalances of the car.
a wind tunnel and corner weight scales would be great, but.... I can watch the videos of the z with that already and get most of what I need there.

steering wheel came in.. Thing is awesome.. definitely gets rid of the aftermarket feel of any, well, aftermarket steering wheel.. makes the cars general build and experience quality feel much higher.. it is heavier than my KEYS wheel.. but its no heavier than s tock wheel is in general.. it will mute out the overkill I currently have in terms of steering feel also, a big reason on why I did this.
The upper and lower grip is retardedly thick, which works well /better for me, being a tall guy w pretty large hands.
I've been down in the garage installing the 06 clock spring today as well as filling the airbag logo indentation and smoothing out the shape using plastic bumper body filler.. should be ready for upholstery in a week or so.. payday is a real thing lol.
