Default Cheaper upgrade hatch struts

Just got these from Lift Supports Depot via Amazon.

Saved some money and they work great.

Original struts couldn't hold the hatch up after the Nismo V1 wing install.

I grabbed mine off ebay for under $30 a few years ago I believe and they still are working fine...that hatch is super heavy without them

I'm assuming shipping would be a lot because of your location so amazon is great for that

Mine was $64.60 total ($18 shipping).

I got it cause it was still cheaper than Z1 and Concept Z. Z1 shipping was $40 for a $70 order, concept z was $25 shipping for a $70 order. Not worth it imho.

I bought a set of Strong Arm supports from Amazon maybe 3 years ago, and they're still working great. IIRC, they were ~$50, but I get free shipping with Amazon Prime.

You will if you install the bottom mounts upside-down.

Still trying to figure out how someone could do that. Change them one side at a time, and use the other side to verify. Ain't rocket science.

what you did makes perfect sense, but i guarantee that some will take both sides off at the same time and then not know how they go back on

No alignment issues as long as you install the bottom mount correctly, bolt holes should be the highest point of the mount (follow the body line), not the nub.

Only issue was premature surface rust on the bolts. I suggest coating them with silicone after install. Didnt help that my car sat in the rain during storm season.

Honestly super simple.

Here's the install guide:

Only thing it doesn't show are the locking clips, just remove with a small flathead or pliers. Then reinstall them after you mount the struts.

Some brands don't include brackets. Can the oem struts be removed so replacements can be installed? Do the oem struts have locking clips to be removed and replaced? I didn't see them on my 2005.

Among brands of replacement struts ranging from about $20 to $90 per pair are these:
Henkeyi
AiYiu
Tuff Support
Lift Supports Depot
TadaMark
Vepagoo
Z1
Boxi
Sachs
Strongarm
Stabilus
FCS
AMS Automotive
TRW.

Who has used any of these, and what's the recommendation? Thanks.
