I read in this forum that both 07-08 hoods are universal for 2003-2006. I really like the HR hoods and saw this carbon fiber one on sale for $479. However, it says Fits: 2007-2008 Nissan 350Z.
Does this hood fit on the older models? I got an 06'
Welcome- and beyond the sarcasm (get used to it), the HR hood was built to accommodate the larger twin intake plenum of the VQ35HR. It'll easily fit over any VQ35DE (like the one in your '06), but won't offer any performance advantages.

^^^^ What dkmura said. This is not sarcasm, it's "agreement" and "concurrence".
It fits, but go test drive an 07 or 08 if you can and see if you like the driving experience...the hood blocks your view a bit and many people have gone back to the flat hood for the better driving experience. Looks great....but personally I changed my plans of adopting that hood after driving an 07. Love the HR engine of the 07....but not the hood.
^ I think the HR hood is by far the best looking and chicks dig the hump; keep that thing polished! *no, the hump doesn't block any vision whatsoever, unless maybe if you are 5' tall.
I'd like to nominate Randy, BigBlue, for moderator. I agree with the other clowns above about the hood fitting and looking good. Just don't expect the carbon one to be lighter. The CF hoods on the market are not true dry carbon, it's just fiberglass with 1 layer of carbon and a ton of heavy gloss resin.

My carbon fiber hood saved a whopping 2 lbs, and requires hood pins making it a ***** to open and looks a bit odd... It is a purely esthetic mod unless you get big vents to help cool the engine I suppose.
You must be lucky all the OGs who weighed theirs back in the days came out with no savings or gained a couple of pounds with wet carbon. Maybe difference in brands or design, less backing or fiber reinforcements.
