goto the groupbuy section of the private sellers forums, there is a group buy by phamitzu(sp?) for a full sized carbon fiber cooling plate for $109. I got one and love the way it looks.

I agree, as is, the air opening doesn't look optimum.

Nothing a dremel couldn't fix.

By the way, these things should probably not be called cooling plates. The hood already seals to the radiator bracket across the top. No air can go over the radiator in the stock configuration. This kit is more of an appearance item. I like the way it looks, but I doubt it changes cooling at all.

You cant beat the group buy price on this one. This thing literally weighs nothing. Ive seen the smaller cooling plate that doesnt run the full width of the hood sell for more than this.

In all honesty, the looks probably outweigh the function

Function this, the Phatmitzu plates are awesome looking, i got mine in the first group-buy and am SO impressed i would buy another just to keep on top of my TV where the last one was until i installed it - and for 109, you cant buy ANY piece of artwork that looks this damn fine !!

realistically, i cant imagine this thing doing squat for performance, but open the hood and blam instant bling on the engine bay - I dont plan on showing my car, but i just love knowing its in there - it more of personal satisfaction.

its sorta like getting your junk pierced, only a few people that see it will know its there - but the ones that do will like it.

I just found out that the reason the cover for the air inlet looks small is because that is how it is for the 350Z (Fairlady Z) in Japan is. Their air inlet "hole" is smaller than the US version and autotecknic made it based on the JP version.

yes this will work on any hood, it only adds about .4inches to the size.

thanks for that info....i am waiting to hear back from them regarding the inlet area and if they can make one that would fit the US model better

i think this would work great for functionality because it forces air to the intake inlet and does not allow the air to escape in front of the radiator...this would work better of course if it were specific to the US model...

thanks everyone for your input

so, what do you guys think is better, the full length or the ones that just conver the center section. the whole point is to force a little more air into the radiator and to have a place to sit you tools. plus, the ones that wrap all the way over the side prolly limit the amount of air going into the intake. dont you think?
just a thought i had.
